Feckin' Insurance!!

Post by TLS-Moose »

Just been fighting to re-insure the bike  2 years ago paid £92 TPF&T, last year decided to "upgrade" to fully comp, at which point the insurance company decided that despite each previous year confirming they had all the mods listed, decided they didn't  which caused the FC premium to rise from £125 to £150 ....... now this year's renewal has come back at £175  and the nearest anyone else has got to that is £198  And thats with 9 yrs NCB

Just go's to show, you're better off being boring and keeping the bike stock :( From what I gather it's the full Yosh exhaust, K&N and Power Comander they're gtting upset about

Those figures do include European cover, Uninsured loss protection, etc., but at the same time also means a £250 excess

It's often the mods that will make a bike more desireable to theives.

Someone I knew had his bike nicked outside his office.

It was found two weeks later, 50 miles away, minus one Akropovic full exhaust system.

Everything else was intact.

Generally, bikes are so easy to nick that for theives, it's worth the effort for a couple of hundred quid.

Give them a ring Moosey. I paid £271 with Bennets last year. Then I added the scooter for £69. So that's £340. Now I'm a year older and have hit the big 3 0 so you'd think it would be a lot cheaper. £395.98  So after reading your thread I gave them a ring and the nice lady got it down to £246.51. :D That's without the scooter cos I'm TRYING to sell it but even if I added that on at last years rate that's still loads better. Not worth phoning around at that price. Excess is £350 and for 5000 miles. It's a multibike policy (with Zenith) so if I gat any bikes to do up I can put them on. I had a big phone around last year and I think Zenith are one of a few multibike companys.

Have you tried MCN Compare - the site is really good. Swinton Bikes did me a really good deal, I had insurance with them and when my renewel was due it was significantly more than the previous year, I rang them after getting quoted via MCN Compare for over £50.00 less than the price they quoted me. They then redid my policy as though it was new and got me the best discount they could. Think its about £150 (maybe a bit less) this year TPFT but this includes legal protection, 30 days european cover, breakdown with homestart and thrid party cover to ride any other bike.

Full European breakdown and green card cover in Morocco for a two week trip at the end of the month.
Paid £134 fully comp.
Nobody with a good car needs to be justified.
