Re: Another What Bike?
Good Good, OK, I've found a bike that I'm definately thinking of buying just want to check with people if its a good deal or not. Its from a dealer and its and SV650SY, this is fully faired and not much on the clock, its W reg and its going for 3K.
What does everyone think, I will be taking it for test run tomoz, so if I like it I can get it then.

Re: Another What Bike?
It's probably a bit higher in price coz it's at a dealers but then you will get some sort of warranty with it and if something don't look right to you on the bike then they usually try and put it right... Full fairing is good, will keep the wind chill down.sprocket";p="16948 wrote: Its from a dealer and its and SV650SY, this is fully faired and not much on the clock, its W reg and its going for 3K.
Hope it's what you want, don't rush in and take your time, the right bike will come along

Re: Another What Bike?
That is very expensive, when you can buy some new ones for 4 grand.
My brother-in-law was selling his SV650SK1 ( next model year on from the Y) for £2500 and couldn't get any interest.
Its a W reg in yellow, about 11000 miles, with full fairing, totally standard except for rear hugger.
He took it off the market and was going to try again in the Spring, or he might have decided to keep it. I'll find out if its still for sale if you want.
The bike is in Plymouth.

Re: Another What Bike?
Clunk that would be awesome, if you could let me know as soon as you can because I'm gna be looking at this other bike tomoz. Whats the condition of the bike as well?
Re: Another What Bike?
Well according to "Used Bike Guide"...
SV650S yr 2000
Condition Excellent (4000 miles or less)= £2800
Condition Average (ie 10'000 miles) = £2300
Condition poor (very high mileage say 35k plus) = £1700
These bikes do seem to depericate quite rapidly, if you get a 2000 model, it will be worth £300 less next yr, so try and get one a bit cheeper, nothing wrong with one thats Average, 11'000 miles, just been run in, and it will be due for a major service around 15'000 so you can get everything that the engine needs properly done then at the bike service garage
My TL also a V-Twin had 11'000 miles on it, the owner was a bit of a muppet (could tell this by him using Focus DIY bolts on the exhaust) but the bike was still pretty much untouched, and thats what you want, a bike that ain't been ragged or fooked about with
Important thing with SV's is, make sure the previous owner wasnt a wheelie king, otherwise the main bearnings will prolly die around the 30k mark!
Check the Oil window, if there is any moisture in it, the bike ain't been serviced regualarly so knock the price down accordingly...
Likewise check for leaking exhaust gaskets, anything else that looks out of place, I mean if you ain't desperate to get a bike asap and pay for the fuel, I don't even mind poping down sometime to come look with you (Keep in mind I got exams for the next 2 weeks though!)
Anyway happy hunting, let us know how you get on, sounds like Clunk's bro is worth checking out, if it's got a rear hugger and things like that, then least he's thought about keeping the bike in good nick, as crap sprayed up the shock can make them go off quickly!

I spoke to Martyn today and he will decide by end of tomorrow if he still wants to sell it.
That's the trouble with SVs, they're so hard to walk away from
