Recommendations for Gear

Ok guys shouting for some advice, first timer buying gear just after some advice and recommendations for gear to look at as much as gear to stay away from lol

Have already fallen in love with a Shoei XR1100 Helmet and SIDI Vertigo Boots, problems is that only leaves me £400-£500 quid for the rest...trying to do the lot for a grand, tried on an alpinestars 2 piece at the weekend but fit wasnt right so just looking for shouts please!!

Where round Yeovil stocks Spidi struggling to find places that stock more than 1 make!!

Just get something that fits you well. It's better to have good fitting £300-400 leathers than poorly fitting £800 leathers. My last leathers were £60 and they're fine.

RST make good quality budget leathers imo. Goto all the local bike shops and try on all the leathers you possibly can.

Welcome Rich, I bought 'Ride magazine' and found a lot of reviews on best kit to buy in there. From reading it, Spada seemed to be the best budget brand. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/Ride/Product-Tests/
I've got a mix of Arai, Shark, Wolf, Dainese, Spidi, Alpinestars & Belstaff gear, all good IMHO.
Otherwise look for branded items on eBay, but you won't be able to try stuff on is the main downside. Or online retailers often have special offers especially in the autumn like M&P, Busters, The fast one, Infinity.......

I have a Dainese 2 piece but I'm too long in the body and broke the waist joining zip. I also have a Wolf one piece, can't take your jacket off if you stop for a pub lunch, not good if you need to do a number 2! One piece is generally for the more committed rider who likes going fast and preferable but not essential for track days.

Yeah was thinking a one piece fit better was all like i said Astars were first id tried and ideally i want a 2 piece but am just curious if a one piece will fit any better for my shape 6' (with apparently after the AStars incident small calfs and MASSIVE theighs lol)

You want to get up to George White's in Swindon, or J&S in Bristol and look at "end of line" stuff

Try and get something with a known brand of armour, like Knox, rather than cheaper no-name stuff, and make sure the armour sits in the right places too otherwise it'll be doing no good at all.

As for 1 or 2 piece, a lot depends on your riding - if all you do is "breakfast run" or track-day type riding then a one-piece is the way forward, but if you do more general riding, or commuting then a two-piece makes life a lot easier and more adaptable

Mr Smiler is 6ft 4 and found the Dainese stuff a bit too short in the arms and legs (2 piece)

I have to say, I found the Revitt stuff really good, but as already said its better to find something that fits you well!
