Anyone know what is the smallest van I could fit a bike in the back of?
Was going to get an escort van and use my bike trailer but turns out I have to do another test to tow a trailer
Don't want anything to big as its gonna be my daily transport as well so SWB, looking at peugot experts but not sure if I can even get 1 bike in the back.
Any recomendations for less than a grand?

smallest i would go for is a SWB transit, that way at least you can use it to take 2 bikes to a circuit and share fuel costs/driving etc

Spoke to my driving instructer and he said I do have to take an extra test, will have a look on the dvla site in a bit.
Don't really want something as big as a swb tranny. Will probably do no more than 5 trackdays a year, then using something that size for going to work and back, but they are cheap
Have looked into pickups, bit more to insure, and quite a bit more to buy. Budgeted £1200 for insurance and maximum £1000 for a van.

I was going to suggest that next, or a Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan - more reliable than an Espace and cheaper parts. 40mpg+ from a TDi too

Has to be a van. No idea why but insurance is half on them.
For an escort van 1.8td is 1100 for the same engine in a car that doubles. Even my 1.0 micra is 1400.

a escort van is cheap as it counts as a commercial vehicle and not a car, so its a escort van to sleep in and a trailer to tow the bikes then

You could try something like a Berlingo/Extra type of van? Cheap to buy, cheap to run ( 50mpg!) but you might need to take the passenger seat out for track days. Its tall enough but not long enough. Maybe some kind of mod to allow the front wheel to run between the driver and passenger?

From what I can gather from that I can tow a trailer as long as the total weight of car + trailer is less than 3.5 tonne.

And the trailer has to be unbraked aswell. and max load not over 750kgs, thats what ive been told
