Anyone in Yeovil area fancy a tinker?

Post by ZX6Rich »

Guys, due to an unfortunate accident my regular mechanic is out of action :( is there anyone in the area who wouldn't mind taking a look at my rather poorly r6?? Non starter atm and not confident with it to tackle myself. Unfortunately I have no trailer so am unable o cart about so before I surrender to a professional at considerable expense I thought id offer it up the kind folks on here in return for plenty of food drink petrol money and of course a contribution to your own track day fund!!

Not only was I wiped out by a car and almost killed and then had my money and debit cards stolen I'm not allowed to ride for 4 weeks due to brain bleed. Not that I have a spare bike anyway! Good luck Rich

Anyway, back to the original post......... I could take it apart for you. You'll just need someone else to put it back together for you. :D
If you can't find a mug someone willing to help you,i can recommend Rob at http://www.rjracing.co.uk a mobile man,who would probably want to collect it and take it back to his workshop. He was there the day you threw it in the kitty litter and reckons he knew someone who could weld the frame aswell. Good luck!

In what way is it a non-runn? Have you tested the battery, coils, plugs etc A bit more info and one of us might be able to pop over and sort it.

Battery is fine Dave is coming to take a look tomorrow so will whip the tank off and have a fiddle. But in answer to your question, I get lights on the dash and a whirring from what I think is the fuel pump...comes from the black round lump near the suspension and then it turns over and over and over but no start :(

It just about turns over ok but is not firing, then before I had a chance to look further a car driver ran over me.

Making a buzzing noise from that relay, was gonna check the plugs too. It will be back together in no time, sadly spanner monkey who usually does work is taking longer to heal.

Good luck Rich, I'm still looking forward to riding round Llandow on my GSXR!

Rich, just a quick update, i should be measuring up and getting a quote on your can sleeve tomorrow. I'll text you when i get a proper price.

Nick mate, sounds like you've been getting it harsh. Get that Gixxer fixed, no one messes with old school suzuki riders..... cos everyone reckons we must be mad, phsycotic or both ;) :))
Cut me in half and I'v got Suzuki written right through me!

Rich, check things like all the plugs, take them apart, wd40, put them together. also check things like the micro switch on the clutch lever, if that is damaged or unplugged then the bike won't start.

Has the R6 got a tilt sensor?????? when i binned my CBR6 on a TD it did the same as yours is doing....i located the tilt sensor and unplugged it, waited a few seconds and re connected it and it fired up right away....
Just a thought anyway.
