Well we're at Pembrey in the paddock, the clouds are grey and ominous. Will they chuck it down or give us a break and for once let there be sun on the Welsh circuit???????

I've learnt some expensive lessons this weekend. Slept in my MPV on Friday night, but come Saturday morning I decided not to ride. I had wets on the bike, and have ridden in the wet before with no problems, but this time I didn't, and left about 11 am. A pity, as the last time I was at Pembrey, 4 years ago, I crashed at speed and ended up in hospital needing 3 operations. So I was looking forward to laying that to rest.
First lesson, make sure I get enough sleep, either a hotel or a comfortable mattress/airbed etc in the van. And don't fix an awning to the van; the wind rocked it all night so I got little sleep. The little awning/sunshade I had was useless anyway and rattled all night. I could hear it despite wearing earplugs.
Second lesson, if there are no garages at the circuit, have a wind and rain proof awning/gazebo with 4 sides. Being cold and wet first thing in the morning left me depressed and unwilling to ride.
Third lesson, actually an old lesson forgotten, don't book before I see the weather forecast, which means less than 10 days before. I now put myself in the novice group (cos I'm old and damaged!), so there are usually spaces. Saving £10 on the fee is irrelevant.
It's cost me at least £150 to find that out, but at least I managed to get a refund on the self inflating mattress which wasn't much good!

Sorry to hear about that, the weather and lack of sleep of things that pray on my mind too.
However I find the weather report can only really be trusted a day or two before the event. I've been on riding trips to Wales when it looked questionable..., and been thoroughly drowned once there and the whole group called the weekend off. I've also backed out on weekends that turned out to be nice.
You just have to take a chance I think.

I must say that I do tend to agree re weather reports 10 days before Llandow it was saying it was wet but we had a clear day.

That said I think it is a personal decision about riding in the rain. Me personally the thought of being soaked to the skin everything being wet and not being able to see on track due to the spray is not my idea of fun. Further more my head just can't compute that water and motorbike leaning can go together. I know that it does work but my head says it doesn't and for that reason if it's wet I don't ride.

After Llandow it was clear that the weather report said it would be wet all day. At that point I cut my losses and went home. It saved me the cost of a days van rental and the extra deisel and I lost the cost of the travel lodge room and the track day ticket.

Here's the photos of the day,
And yes it was wethe but as you can see if the bike is working well and wets was very entertainig.

Made you concentrate on being smooth and progressive.

And would happily ride in the rain again, and again.
Really enjoyed it
