Reasonable multibike insurance
Looking for reasonable multi bike insurance for my Virago 535 and Sym Joyride 200. I'm almost 55 have full ncb and have been quoted nearly £500 by one broker.
Re: Reasonable multibike insurance
I found it cheaper to just get 3 separate policys.
1190 Adventure S, 990 Superduke, DRZ-400E - all the bases covered.
Re: Reasonable multibike insurance
well i won't be going for the cheapest on a compare website again, after the additional costs they apply.
I've found MCE insurance reasonable and the free breakdown cover was unexpected.

I was with Carol Nash for a while but they are only good if you have older bikes.

Re: Reasonable multibike insurance
I was with masterquote, but they have now been bought by Devitt DA. My two (MV F4 & TL1000) were £235 this year. The TL is always difficult to insure once you start declaring all the mods, so that's not a bad price

Re: Reasonable multibike insurance
With them being quite different bikes, probably best to insure them separately. Virago using the NCB, see if the NCB can be mirrored on the SYM.
With the SYM being Chinese and if it doesn't have a great value, consider going Third Party Only - a lot of insurers will only give TPO cover on Chinese bikes, this then limits your market if trying for a multi-bike policy too.
Multi-bike policies usually work best when you have 3 or more mainstream bikes.

I agree with the comments above. I found it cheaper with two bikes to do separate policies.
On the free recovery check the conditions as some have an age limit. I can't remember which.

Re: Reasonable multibike insurance
I'm of a similar age to Rick and have just received the renewal notice for my two bike policy with CIA - a 990 SuperDuke and WR250, FC for £228.36. It does help that I have heaps of NCB, and possibly Rick hasn't accumulated that yet, given what he's been quoted, but it's worth giving CIA a call on 01788 818640 to see what they'll quote. They've been very good in the past, shifting to different insurers on renewal for a better price rather than blindly renewing with the same ones each time.

Caution regarding "free recovery"; often only applicable in a breakdown situation not after sliding it down the road.
And I've sold my trailer so my recovery services are no longer available

old and disgraceful so doing what I can while I can before I can't

Premiums are on a par with the best on the price comparison sites, the customer service is first class and they are very good at tweaking and tailoring policies to your needs. And their underwriters tend to be well known, big name operators whose policies are likely to be worth the paper they are written on.
I stick with them for the customer service. No call centres, the guys who run the company answer the phones. And usually very quickly.
