Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
Thanks Robbo! Route and details to be posted this evening or tomorrow morning.
Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
Robbo is being slack posting the details, (but has put together an awesome route to be fair) ... we are meeting at Bridge Motorcycles at 5.30, for a swift getaway at 6.
Next meeting point will be Moretonhampstead for anyone a bit further south.
One more meeting point along the way - tbc!

Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
O.k. After mucho deliberation, and not a little cajoling from Herr Shooey, here's The Grand Plan . . . . . simply put, we head west early - then with cunning timing head back east with the sun at our backs, not in our eyes. And get back in time for a beer. What could possibly go wrong with that . . . . . . . ?:
For anyone wanting to join en route, check out the approximate timings for the first four places that we'll stop at (1. 2. 3. 4.), after that . . . . . . well, just study the route details and catch us where/if you can:
Depart - Bridge M/C's 1800 hrs sharp, be fuelled and ready to go please, Sainsburys is close by.
1. 1825 hrs: Moretonhampstead - Court Street car park TQ13 8LG
2. 1850 hrs: Whiddon Down - roundabout on A382 1/2 mile west of Whiddon Down Services
3. 1910 hrs: Sourton Cross - junction of A386 Tavistock Rd and the old A30 (very near the junction of the NEW A30 - which we WON'T be taking BTW, we'll be using the old A30, much more fun)
4. 1940 hrs: Launceston - Tesco, Tavistock Rd PL15 9HG. (Fuel?)
Then, depending on time/general concensus, it's either:
A. Head south to TAVISTOCK Via B3362, then SOURTON CROSS (again) via A386, then JACOBSTOWE & SAMPFORD COURTENY via A3072, then south on A3124 to WHIDDON DOWN (Fuel?), then east back to EXETER via CROCKERNWELL, CHERITON BISHOP & TEDBURN ST MARY.
OR
B. Head north on A388 to HOLSWORTHY, then east on A3072 to HATHERLEIGH, then southeast to JACOBSTOWE, then as above from there.
Final stop and de-brief at Bridge M/C's.
Approx' total miles: A - 155. B - 165.
Approx' time: 2.5 hours not counting any breaks.
Pace: 'Making progress'.
Notes: Fuel top-up at Tesco Launceston and/or on 2nd visit to Whiddon Down.
Usual drop-off system applies if loads of you turn up, if not then we keep a look out for each other in our mirrors - depending on numbers we'll decide at the start.
FYI, Mr Hagon still hasn't favoured me with delivery of his rear shock so I'll be pogo-ing around on the Fut as normal; my cornering, straight lines too are, depending on road surface, liable to be somewhat random - be warned,

Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
All the weather forecast agencies I've checked say the same - any rain ceasing by 1400 hrs, cloudy and dry from then on. I'll check again around 1600 hrs and make a final call then; at the moment though, consider it a goer.

Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
RIDE POSTPONED
Okay, it seems that everywhere west of Taunton has drizzle or light rain, even fog on some high ground. Not everyone's favourite biking weather; and even if it suddenly all dried up, the roads would still be crap, so reluctantly I'm calling a postponment.
Keep an eye on the 'Ride Out' section because a midweek blast appeals and I'll re-post details as soon as our summer arrives - maybe next Tuesday or Wednesday?

Fair play Robbo!
I’m still taking a chance and getting out for a blast tonight. My geography isn’t great for ideal roads and robbo was the leading. So if anyone wants for a blast tonight, no specific route, PM me before 17.30.

Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
Yeh, I'm not sad about that Robbo.
I've been watching the weather closely too... and it has looked like it was trying to rain all day here, and it's now cool and misty. Pretty shite riding conditions tbh.
Should be up for the next one though.

Re: Anyone fancy a midweek Rideout?
Bugger.....I checked at 4.15 and didn't see your cancellation Phil
Still I had a nice blast down the A377 to get to Bridge where it was obvious after a while you'd cancelled so I had a solo circuitous bimble back up. was good to be out even if it was a bit dristy at times.
Till next time guys

See the ride out section if you fancy trying again on Sunday. If you don't want to make the trip down to God's end of the county for the start, part of my route takes in Black Cat to Torrington. If you do want to join en route, p.m. me with where, and I'll tell you approx' when we'll be there.
