Problems accessing this forum!

Post by Jug »

Yesterday it seemed like this forum was down, all day.
Today it's the same but I now see posts have been added so it's not affecting everybody.

For me my pc cannot contact this site, tried chrome and opera.
My phone can with opera but can't with chrome.

I'm not sure what is going on but thought I should let someone know. :erm:

Cheers for that.
I was contacted by a few members about it and so I contacted Dave about it. It did seem to rectify itself after about an hour.
I'll forward on your message to him though just in case there's something already going on.

Yeah, it won't be a click and fixed thing. Dave has to juggle it with his family stuff.

I've no issues connecting with Firefox

I had an access problem around 10.00 a.m. Saturday; all was o.k. after lunch. Mine's a home p.c. using Firefox.

Strangely enough... Was just shopping at Tesco and my phone jumped on to their WiFi and it all worked as normal, could access with Chrome on my phone.
Just got home and tried again (talktalk broadband) and Chrome doesn't work yet Opera still does. I haven't tested it again but I bet my PC also still won't work.

T'is a strange one indeed..

Still broken by the way.
My otherhalfs phone can access it via our WiFi with Chrome (mine still won't), both Sony android phones too but different models.
Her PC can't access it with any browser though (Win10).

Coffee - coffee is the answer...

Soak it in coffee overnight then dry it in the microwave. :| :|

I've found a way around this for now... a free VPN.

I have a free extension installed in Chrome called Touch VPN. I enabled this and have it connect to a UK based VPN (as the local ones are faster) and after that this site works on my PC.

So I think this is a sort of ISP related issue.
TalkTalk (who use BT network) doesn't play well with this forum's host site anymore.

BTW - if anyone else does this then please remember to disable the VPN when not needed, and certainly before doing any internet banking or online purchases. I don't trust free VPN's...

Top job sir.

I'll let Dave know about your work around as it may help him solve the issue.

Would that not imply its a user-end issue, rather than a site issue?

I use Tesco/O2 mobile, virgin home WiFi, and goodness knows who via the company network using Chrome, edge and ie and haven't had any issues at all I'm aware of?

Dunno.
I think it more likely the site hosting company has implemented something that isn't 100% compatible. However I suppose it could be that some ISP's have made some changes.

Either way the problem (and thus the fix) does not appear to lay with the end users.

Seems to be okay now.

Has it fixed itself or did Dave sort it?
