Caught Speeding

Post by Alandavies215 »

Hello I was on the way to the bmad in Paignton with my daughter as pillion on the a 38 from Plymouth I saw a camera van and slowed down to 50 mph as I was previously caught and was done for a average 52 mph in a 30 but that’s a different story anyway though they might get me on an average but they got me doing 82 in the 70 but when I asked for the photos one really far away from the front sat 82mph then the next photo 3 seconds later had the mph not shown then the one from behind that shows my reg also had the mph missing is this right thought all photos had to show the speed
Thanks in advance

Would suggest that you take legal advise. Sounds to me like they caught you before you got on the brakes (unless you weren’t and this is an incorrect reading) and they have not put the speed on the others as you were below the speed limit. If you want to contest it it will be going to court. But either way if your thinking of fighting it suggest you reach out to a lawyer for support rather then trying to do it yourself.

Probably better asking on pepipoo. Camera vans are normally a laser and can catch you up to a mile away. One photo showing speed then one showing confirmation of reg after you went by I would of thought was normal. Would be more interested in how they calculated average speed unless they just took two photos of you and divided both by two. Average is distance divided by time so it would have to show two points at a known distance to be accurate. If you go to court as suggested by Menzies don’t forget that your fine will be means tested so you could be fined considerably more if found guilty than taking it on the chin if you’re offered a fixed penalty.

The earlier one I spoke about was done one an average they lasered me in an national speed area and I saw the van I slowed down to the 30 mph sign and never went above 30 mph in that area but then then lasered me again when I went passed and said over 86m it was an average of 52mph and said that was in a 30 mph limit even though I never went above 30mph surly they should have done me in the national speed limit not the 30 mph limit anyway that’s done 6 points and £600 fine this is the next one I know it’s my fault but it’s to easy

Too late now but think I would’ve been taking professional advice if what you said is true!

I think Andy's point is about your precious cargo and your wanton recklessness regarding her safety. Just never let her do anything exciting and life affirming on her own like crossing the road....

Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?
