May bank holiday Monday (25/05/20)

Post by Jug »

Myself & my good lady set off at the crack of dawn (10:00) to go see Bude. :D

Headed north to join the awesome B3227 and followed that all the way to Great Torrington, which was nice as I normally jump off that road at Bampton when I'm out that way. From there we rode up to Bideford and then followed the coast road around to Bude.
Roads were clean, traffic light to none existent, weather great.

First fill up at Bude was a bit of a surprise. I've been taking it much easier so far this season.. mainly due to CV-19, and so I thought I'd check the MPG of my thirsty girl as it was sure to be impressive (yeh... sure :)): ).

106 miles, 12.38 litres of fuel - that's almost 39 mpg.. a new personal best for my 990 Superduke. 8)
Then I asked Claire how much her MT-07 had taken to top it back up.. just 6.38 litres... That's 74.5 MPG! :80:

So from there into Bude to see what's open.. and luckily the Barge in the canal was open serving coffees and cake.

Quick snap to prove it happened, there were a few others bikers there but not as many as I'd have expected.

From there on down to Widemouth bay to see the surf.. which got me nostalgic about when I use to surf.

and then just around the corner we discovered a secret bay.

From there is was time the head back east so we did that via Holsworthy, back up to Great Torrington, then across the Crediton.
Then followed that awesome road up to Tivy but only got as far as Bickleigh as they've close the A396 after there. Quick divert down to Silverton and then we were back on a nice road up to Cullompton, Honiton, Axminster, and finally home.

Tired and a bit saddle sore but it was a thoroughly enjoyable ride out. Had the intercoms linked the whole way so could chat whilst riding, which if you're gonna ride with someone else you may as well be able to chat with them.. poor Claire. %-( :)
