Farewell dear friend
Attempted theft of my bike the other night.
They cut 2 chains and broke the disc lock. They missed a third chain and tried to wheel it away but dropped it. Collected by insurers. Phone call from engineers on Thursday...
It's a write off !

Re: Farewell dear friend
Well my first bike (after 35 yrs without) was a Honda 500S. That was nicked outside my club late evening. Ignition b******d and nose cone wrecked. They let me buy it back. Drilled out the security bolts and got another ignition off the net.
Then came Sprint RS # 1. Stolen, ingition wrecked, multiple fairing damage - wtitten off. Again I bought it back and repaired it.
Picked up the Blackbird - nicked, but only moved 100 yds as no battery in it.
Next night, they returned with a battery, broke the seat lock and stole it. I received a speeding ticket. Bristol Bike Theft Awareness got it back and delivered to my house. I took off the control levers, and next night they came back to try again. Had to sell it as scrap.
Second Sprint RS - attempted theft but immobiliser stopped them. Ignition damaged- top yoke retreived and fitted from Marque 1 Bike.
V. early morning earlier this week I'm awakened by racket and banging on door. Some neighbours had arrived home to find 3 lads trying to nick it. Ho Hum. Written off. I've HAD ENNUFFFFFF.

Talk about not fair. Even after all the security basically the same result as if they nicked it. That's a serious pisser. Makes you question if you even bothering locking them up in the first place.

It'd make me seriously consider why I live where I do!! That's a pretty horific record, and I'd guess insurance premiums start to reflect it toomenzies3032 wrote: ↑Jan 21st, '22, 23:51 That's a serious pisser. Makes you question if you even bothering locking them up in the first place.

Feel for you.
It's cack when can't have anything nice due to incidents like this.
All I can recommend.
Get bigger locks and chains.
I've recently gone up to 22mm linked chains and made my own ground anchors to secure.

Insurance has sent a cheque. Reasonable valuation. Bit of a closure to be sure. Resigning myself to possibly never riding again
