anybody got experience of moving into a property with this stuff? how did you regard the threat and what if anything did you get done?
Ive lived through aluminium pans, amalgum fillings, leaded petrol, and so far - tory governments. not sure how to deal with this 5th horseman!

Re: Artex ceilings
Two choices overboard and skim or use green grit and skim . Some artex contains asbestos so would recommend having it tested before disturbing it.

Re: Artex ceilings
its the asbestos potential that makes me nervous. but ive since seen that bonding (plastering) the ceiling, is a realistic alternative. cheers

Re: Artex ceilings
Getting a good key is the hard part, that's why they use a grit/ PVA mix before skimming. I've seen a ceiling drop while still being troweled up. Lead to much cursing and a grumpy spread.

We had this sort of concern/issue so got a bit tested first - at £15 considered it cheap and easy. Came back negative for asbestos so made our life easy (light scrape to remove high spots, bond, finish plaster). Good luck.
