Well that was different…..

Post by menzies3032 »

So after all the pissing rain in July I was looking out the window today and getting more and more angry at the lack of motorbike time I have had for the middle of the summer. Got to about 5pm and started complaining to the wife about the glorious weather and me not riding my bike.

To my utter surprise she said “what you complaining to me about it for just bugger off and go for a ride if that’s what you want to do I’m not stopping you” ….. really?

Bye then

What did I find out
1. I can get out of work clothes into bike clothes with bike out the garage in under 30

2. In July I can get from Teignmouth to Lynmouth whilst there is still sunshine

3. Lynmouth really is beautiful when the sun is shining.

4. My new sports touring tyres really do not like turning into sharp turns, stood the bike up a couple of time in this one outing. First time I have done that in a long while

5. Riding in the dark with only a headlight it makes you realise that when you bank into a turn you look round the corner by looking up, and when you just have a bike headlight it doesn’t shine up so you can’t see where your going ^#(^

6. Having a power outlet on your bike allowing your to charge your phone is a god send.

7. Getting home from a bike ride at 11pm is fun and must do that again.

Nice one Rob. Lynmouth is lovely.

What tyres did you get? Did they let go?

Yes I really like Lynmouth as well

And

I was previously on Metzeller M7RR sports tyres and have swapped to Metzeller RoadTech 01 SE tyres. They did not let go so much as did not turn in quick enough and did not inspire confidence at high lean tight sharp turn. The dash said I got to a 40 deg lean angle but then went “nope” stood the bike up and grabbed a handful of brake.

So the reduced grip of the SEs gave you less confidence in turning?

I think so yes....

Either that or it was my me being a lazy bugger and not moving my body as I should be.

I have got another distance ride tomorrow lets see if i get a similar problem and will report back.
