Bike Breakers in/around Somerset - any recommendations?

Post by Bob »

Hi All,

I’m after a few bits for a project bike, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent bike breakers in or around Somerset? I know the usual response will be to buy online, but I’d really much rather touch and check the item I’m buying if at all possible before i part with my hard-earned.

Cheers, Bob

ll depends what you're looking for. different breakers will carry different stock, so some kind of direction/parts list would help.

I went into Bitza Bikes today and picked up a couple of things but they don’t break bikes any more. Seems like a helpful bloke though. Being an incomer I haven’t heard of AFB, but I’ll have look thanks.

My project bike is an old small block Guzzi. The linked brakes still are and work reasonably. However, the front right disk brake, operated at the handlebar lever is very wooden and only just has an effect. I knew this would be the case from previous experience 20-odd years ago, when I had a 650 Lario. Evidently this was a design error in that the master cylinder diameter is too large! So what I’m after is an 11mm diameter master cylinder, brake lever, and brake light switch from a smallish single disk bike. Something modern like a Honda/Yamaha etc.

Have a look on market place under spares and repairs. I hear you can get whole bikes for very short money.
