llandow 2025

Post by billinom8s »

I've been in contact with llandow today and it's not looking too promising for private bike days there going forward.

They are saying that as the group leaders are not actually instructors (they are not listed or advertised as them).

Also that as anyone that gets sent to hospital as a result of an accident whilst on track is potentially taking away availability of a space that a local person may require. #-o

It would seem that apparently, get ready for this.....motorcycling is dangerous and they don't really want to be involved with it.

So unless we can get 3 qualified instructors to come along, this is now dead in the water.

WTAF

I guess that means if you are planning on having an accident, please do so only in you local postcode!

Whilst people are queuing up to pay £50 to go round the circuit in a Ferrari at 50mph then why bother with anything else!?

Very disappointing.

With the amount of YouTubers taking cars on their for "content" and paying to hire the track, I'm guessing a bike trackday is not the circuit's target market nowadays.

Do you need 3 instructors?
One instructor could ride in all three groups, Menzies is going to busy.

Just reaching out to a friend who is an instructor for No Limits to see if they hold anything certification wise.

Surely this has to be the same as a car track day though right…. They surley can’t be suggesting that motorbikes are unsafe and cars are safe and nobody ever needs to go to hospital that drive cars at there track.

Also if the person that goes to hospital has paid for there spot then surely this is all irrelevant right?

I can explain the hospital thing.

The consultant that treated Wendy happens to also be the senior consultant responsible for procedures that tracks in Wales should follow in the event of an accident that results in a visit to hospital. He was not happy that Llandow paramedics had followed the correct procedures and was going to talk with the track owners. Apparently an ambulance should have been called and The hospital should have been rung to expect her. All down to concussion and internal organ damage.

So I expect they've had a slap on wrist. As for qualified instructors I'd be quite surprised if there was such a thing as I've only come across racers from club to international. I suspect that the criteria will be difficult to meet as the goal posts will constantly move.

The track now is in constant demand from You Tubers who I expect are far less grief for them.

I appear to stand corrected.

Copied off a quick google search:

To become a motorcycle track day instructor, you'll need to meet the following qualifications:
Age: Be at least 21 years old
Motorcycle license: Have a full category A or A2 British motorcycle license for at least three years
DVSA approval: Have a motorcycle instructor qualification approved by the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
Employment: Be employed by a DVSA approved training body (ATB)
Criminal record check: Pass a criminal record check
You can also consider taking a course to become a motorcycle instructor, such as:
RoSPA Level 3 Award in Advanced Motorcycle Instructor Training
This course is designed for people who have passed RoSPA's advanced riding test.
