The Old Laira Road cameras nearly cost me my licence (twice in ten days, with 6pts already on licence....). 6 cameras, all linked for average speed but each camera can also capture spot speed in either direction. Most of the new ones are the same.Robbo87 wrote: ↑Dec 28th, '25, 10:32 Yep, just like the 20 mph one does on the B3214 Old Laira Rd to Mutley Plain road. Over £20,000 in fines in the first three weeks they were up I was told - the cameras are still there folks so be very aware, they're active both ways. My pal Geoff's son got a fine and points for 26 mph there last year.

Daft thing is that in the car I can set the cruise control so i don't get nicked but its such a slow speed that you tend not to focus on looking in front of you because it feels like a walking pace, were as on the bike its so difficult to actually do 20mph that you spend your entire time looking at the speedo not the road in front of you...... Always aggravates me when they try to use speed as a safety measure when it all comes down to focus and attention, I'm much safer at 40mph and focused then at 20mph and falling asleep.TLS-Moose wrote: ↑Dec 28th, '25, 17:02The Old Laira Road cameras nearly cost me my licence (twice in ten days, with 6pts already on licence....). 6 cameras, all linked for average speed but each camera can also capture spot speed in either direction. Also be aware that the limits have dropped all the way from the Tamar Bridge to Trerulefoot (in many places what was 50 is now 40, what was 40 is now 30, etc) and also monitored by average speed cameras. The the Glyn Valley from Doublebois all the way the A30 at Bodmin is also 50mph all the way with average speed cameras throughout now. Progress in Cornwall was quicker back in the days of Trevithick ......![]()
