I think its a buyer who cares about the service stamp more than any one else as it shows it has been serviced

I do my own serving but i got no intension of selling the bike so i've only got myself to worry about

You would probably do a better job than the shops anyway.
So yes I do my own.

Mate I would agree with most, until I saw the quality of the servicing at SP marshbarton, everything greased and lubed. Nick had just had his bike done and he was over the moon.

I've done my own for a long time now, only get the valve clearences done at the garage... although I'm tempted to try it (May do it on the CBR first as it's a lock/nut style) but I'd prefer to watch it being done first, I learn better that way.

If the bike is out of warranty I would defo do the servicing myself.

My bike is in warranty and I still serviced it myself.
Only did it yesterday, oil and filter change, check plugs and air filter. Bridge quoted me £180  , it cost me £20 and I learnt a bit about how it goes together.

All this "you must have a main dealer service stamp to keep the warranty valid" is testicles. As long as you can prove the service was carried out correctly the warranty is still valid. Keep receipts and write down what was done in the service book.

Maybe I would have to argue for a warranty claim, but I'll take my chances as my bike's a proven design (i.e. old) with a very strong engine.

Depends on if you want to sell it anytime soon. If you have paid dealers for that long, probably best to continue to pay, It must make a fair difference to the value of it.

Personally I dont have a bike that is worth paying dealers to service, even if I could afford it.

clunk 180 thats a lot for a basic service. if you service your bike say once a year (depending on annual milage) you save an average of 150 quid times how many you do. By not paying garage would you lose a few hundread quid by not having a full service history when you come to sell it as long as the bike been looked after i think it dosent matter if the garage did it or the owner does the make sense.
The grass may be greener on the other side but it still needs cutting!!!

well if u do decide to do it yourself and are worried about the whole 'record' thing, just keep a log of when thiings were changed etc.
if not and u dont get a dealers stamp, just keep all the info u get from the garage, there arent many good workshops around here so anyone buying the bike can see where u had bits of work done, alot of dealers dont have as good a reputation as some of the smaller garages.
you tried lwewis motors for a quote or a chat yet?
