Yep, the mountain roads are ace and most of the A and B roads are fine too. Nearly all of mid and north Wales are biking heaven, though Snowdonia obviously gets more traffic. Phil is looking at a place in Aberystwyth right now - top man. The Trem Hyfryd looks good too John
I, honestly don't think there's another area within what might be considered reasonable riding distance for our weekend jolly. Just hoping for a change from the Neuadd for our base camp, though there's nothing much wrong with the Neuadd. Going a bit further north opens up different Saturday ride out routes.
That's what I thought. The Trem is just a bit higher up Wales so can do northern Wales.

I'm waiting on a call from someone who is trying to put something together in the North Wales area.
Should know more by the weekend.

Will that be the 18-20 June weekend Andy?

Last year we came back from Ireland via Holyhead and then rode across Snowdonia to get home, some lovely roads and views up there.
North Wales would be great destination for a group trip.

Yeak. I went with that as it was the dates you mentioned in your first post. Give people too much choice and it's like herding cats.

Right, here we go.......
I've been in touch with an independent agent who has found us a deal on this place:
https://www.dolforwyn.com/
It's a fair bit higher up than the Neuad which gives us ample choice of roads into North Wales and a decent route up and back.
They have 3 twin rooms, 3 rooms with a double bed and 2 singles. Depending on who is prepared to snuggle up in a double (I'm thinking existing couples - but you never know who else fancies it...) we could have a maximum of 14 people. If the doubles are single occupancy, then obviously we're down to 11.
The lass I've been dealing with has negotiated a rate of £135 per person based on dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 nights, Fri 18th and Sat 19th June 2021.That's based on 11 people so if we do get the double rooms full then the cost per person would drop slightly.
It's more expensive than the Neuad, but then again this looks like it's been decorated sometime in the current millenium, so that's a bonus. The owners are pretty keen to take bookings for next year even though some hotels and guest houses are more wary because of the Covid restrictions. They have said that in the event of the hotel having to close there would be a full refund.
They require a deposit of £40 per person and if we fill the rooms then we have the run of the place to ourselves. They have a licensed bar on site and free parking.
That's the best I could come up with. The agent did have another possible but they were more expensive and weren't that keen on a large group all on bikes!
Can I get some feedback as to what you think and see who's up for it.

Looks pretty good.
Not sure how much decor matters as surely most of the time you're either a bit merry or out on the bikes.

You should have seen the room Nick and I were in
There wasn't enough room to get a cat in there, let alone swing it.
A nice place to relax would be welcome after a hard day's riding....

Thanks again Andy

If only I could get through to their website.....
Perfect location for our base to get to more northern roads for the ride out and we'll be going through the awesome mid-Wales roads on the way there and back. We're also looking at a place in Newtown, details to come soon courtesy of Phil. Ideally we can have a few choices to consider in the next few weeks and make the decision on where to stay before Chrimbo.

Why not do both? Make it a 4 day trip.
