My minimum is a leather jacket, gloves, jeans and my boots.

When i lowsided the R6 i was doing about 30-35 and wearing the above, the jeans i had on took all the punishment. They were worn away in some places but the skin underneath was fine, so Jeans are way better than nothing IMO.

As for people wearing shorts and t shirts, I won't condone it, but then again I won't knock it. Its all about having the freedom to choose, however i will point and laugh at any person who comes off wearing next to feck all.

Saw a young lad on his 125 in Taunton the other day in only shorts and flip flops. Hope he does not come off but the way he was riding he will soon.

Like most people, my minimum is leather jacket, jeans, boots & gloves. If mini-me goes pillion she's fully kitted up (not like some kids you see!!!!).

Personal choice though - if people want to ride round in next to nothing then it's their own lookout when they come off, feel very sorry for the ambulance crews though :(
my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely

It depends where I'm going and how far...

If I'm just popping into town or Marsh Barton (2minutes) then it's Shorts and 'T' shirt...

Before you start on me...I am cruising at the same speed I ride my pushbike at, no overtaking and keeping an eye out for nutters...And I wear a helmet (I don't on my pushbike)

When you get to my age your skin is a thick as leather anyway...

discussed loads of times before...

wear what the hell you want.

(but obviously your not allowed to moan if you get skinned alive falling off without leathers on. )

A hell of alot of riders like to think that "bikers" are one big group and we all have something in common, and from that they have a habit of thinking that their interpretation of motorcycling should apply across the board...

We have less in common than most think so let the shorts and flip flop guys do their thing and let the people who feel they need to wear a full leather race suit just to ride 5/10 minutes down to captain jaspers and hang around drinking tea :? do theirs

i dont see why people get on their high horse, if someones wearing a T shirt, big deal... its not you or your choice so leave them to it!!! if im just gonna go into town or whatever i dont put on full leathers, just a t shirt jeans and lid, if i come off it'd be shit luck but at the same time im hardly pushing it and not traveling far...

do you get this upset about car drivers not wearing seat belts in town???

should skateboarders be fully armoured at all times???

How about those sit on road sweepers? surely they should at least wear A Gold star rated full face lid?!?!?!?!?

''if i come off it'd be [poo poo] luck but at the same time im hardly pushing it and not traveling far''

even if you are going 5 seconds down the road at slow speeds your skin can still be left scattered over the road!!

half the time its not the way you ride its the other people around you. i was on the back of my mates r6 literally just up the road from his house doing under 30 mph and a car pulled out on us, the police measured that we slid 100ft up the road, if i wasnt wearing my gear i would be in one hell of a state now.

It would hurt if i fell down my stairs but i dont wear Kevlar to mobalise up or down them!!!!! your missing the point i think, its an individual choice, WHAT IN GODS NAME would the point be in putting all my gear on to go into town, a 5 minute ride... weigh the chances up... Jesus, ive just come out of hospital, nearly lost my life and nothing to do with a bike, now i wanna enjoy life, have some freedom and not think "im gonna die on my bike on every trip i make" i want to enjoy it in my own way and if that means a mile ride without a bleeding race suit on then so be it

At the end of the day it is as everone says you own choice this is why Fred Hill started the helmet campaign which spawned MAG who fight against stupid legislation against bikes, And we owe a lot to them really, their greatest amabassador in recent times was a man from the south west, Simon Milward
Sadly no longer with us but he died ion a bike doing what he did best trying to raise money for charity

but seriously would you ride without a helmet now? so think very carefully and when riding your push bike look down and see how fast that big grindstone made of tarmac underneath you is going by, something told me by a biking freind many years ago, Ta Sue. I wont go out without a jacket and at least jeans on
