because if it's anything like our Tesco's, the damn thing won't accept my card (a Tesco's one) 90% of the time, so you got to select "pay at kiosk" to get petrol

I will pay at pump if its over a tenner, less and i tend to pay cash, but like you say most people in the queue are paying by card when they could pay ay the pump

Only asked to remove lid once at a Tesco, and they said "next time take your lid off before paying", I asked why, reply.."because its the rules". Oh well that's ok then. I always use pay at pump if using that garage, more places should have it.
Never been asked anywhere else.

I recon if you get asked at the counter, ask why and what if I was a muslim woman ect. Then start taking it off and faf about as much as pos, especiely if there's a que. Then ask where the CCTV cam is look at it and give it a big grin, or the Vs. Pay. Then put your lid back on and gloves taking time to make sure all is in the right place like you would by your bike normally. We all know how long it can take in winter and I wear glasses.

As for where to put the lid? Straight on the counter, knocking as much over as you can.

maybe we should all ride down there and see if they ask us to remove our lids?

ladies in there all cheered and told the cops to fcuk off when i last got nicked in there...

They did that to me, it was freezin cold so i left my lid on to keep my head warm till i got in, put the pump in and waited and nothin happened....then "PLEASE REMOVE THE HELMET SIR" so i just thought [censored] this......nd rode off givin the finger!

After all if we have to take them off just so if we steal anything they now who we are, then they have our reg numbers anyway. And if we are in there to steal with guns, we are not going to take the helmet off so what does it matter if we are not in there to steal anything without taking our helmets off, if that is clear to read.

hi there is me again who started this whole bp garage i want to start a petition regarding taking our lids off when re fueling, ok i need about 10 replys saying there in to sign it to actually start it off i really want to get back at these b******s your reply to this would be a big help to me

If I can't use the window or pay at the pump, I ALWAYS take my lid off...

My 17 year old daughter worked in a petrol station.

All this talk about 'If I was gonna rob the place I wouldn't take it off'... well, exactly, that scares the youngsters as they're told you could be a possible robber...

Also it's been said that the cctv has your number plate... Yep all robbers use their own bike don't they... Also, that no longer applies, the police don't pursue 'Drive offs' anymore.

reply to maver nick . i have a 300 pound lid i have no problems with taking my helmit off when re fueling if they provide a clean shelf of somesort i mean you wouldnt put a 300 pound coat on the floor would you?

So where do you put it whilst re-fueling (It should be off your head then)When in the shop I don't understand why you can't put it on the counter in front of you, every garage I've ever been in has had plenty of room, and if not you make room.

He's right. Why one rule for some and another rule for others It's about principle. Maybe my religion says that I have to keep my lid on in petrol sations when on the bike.

What about people wearing hoodies or hats and scarfs with the scarf over their mouths?

Surly the sign shouldn't read 'Motorcyclists please remove your helmets' but should read 'If we cannot see your face you won't get served' and should apply to EVERYBODY.

i have no problem taking it off when paying for it its a inconvience to dismount your bike take your helmit off but it on a sandy/oily/genral unclean floor then get back on the bike so its upright to fill it right up i mean come on !!!the signs are up in the bp garage after my first incounter with them hense the first post made on this issue

Would it not just be simpler to find another petrol station ? I understand your point, but as any retailer will tell you, they can refuse to serve anyone they wish.

Vote with your feet. The only place I have ever had an issue with over the matter I have never revisited since.

I keep my helmet on whilst filling up, though I never sit on the bike whilst filling, and it depends on my mood / rush as to whether I keep it on or take it off whilst paying.

The alternative is use a Tesco's, where you can just pay at the pump
