Chris your are right, i joined visordown recently, no great shakes the
maybe useful for ads but that is about all, the RD forum has one of the foremost classic yam mechanics contributing to it, writebike AKA Chris Pearson of classic mechanics and loads of others that heve resto,d there own bike and know the aches pains and problems and atre only too willing to help. And this forum has more riders of modern machines which are not so easy to repair on a diy basis but there is always someone willing to try and help others here, oh and for my sins i contribute to the honda XRV african twin forum which surprisingly has quite a few female members,

I got introduced to this site by Frank Shaw a couple of years ago. I dont really contribute a lot as I dont really have much to say but I will say this.

I've been on a track day organised by the site, plan to go on another one, been on shed loads of ride outs and met quite a few good bikers on here.

Regarding cliquey, I've never had a problem.

If the site is dying then I cant wait for it to liven up.

If the site is not right for someone then they should probably go somewhere else. Lifes too short to bitch about stuff and theres loads more bike sites out there.

Been at work all day thinking about this thread. Should keep mouth shut really and no cause contreversy. Drink for you.

But reading your replys i can see its all positive.

Like Mark-Blade said its not what i think is happening as title says just the view i keep hearing. Bumped into another old member over weekend who mentioned this and that about site.

But as we can all see its a great site and some great things are being said and i ain't clicky as i hate you all

I don't think there's much wrong with the site - it goes through quiet patches sometimes is all. Paignton starts next week, summer days are not too far away so there'll be plenty of rideouts (hopefully) ... I might even make one or two this year

I don't post as much as I used to - but that's coz I've been stupidly busy with work and mini-me ... plus I'm admin on two other bike sites and mod on a further one. Means I spend my time killing spammers rather than typing posts

As sites go - this one's friendly (like Chris said - see Visordown!!) and at least we get the chance to meet up occasionally. I've met loads of good people through it (a few pillocks too ) and made some long-lasting friendships.
my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely

speedy(delboy) wrote:I for one, probably being one of the gobbyist [Censored] on here will take to anyone, I have no preference to who I talk to.

But

Some peeps do find it difficult to talk to other people, Sarah for instance, would never dream of going to a pub meet on her own, not for the fact that she doesn't know anyone, but for the fact that she is fairly shy, and yes, men can be like this as well.

If you are one of these peeps, who are fairly shy, the more posts you put up on the site the more people will get to know your name, and the more of your name they get to hear, the more likely they will want to meet you and introduce themselves at pub meets and ride outs.
I'm shy. The first few meetings Mel and I came to I found it hard to get talking to people, that's just how I am. But when we went to the quiz night I found I came out of my shell because me and Mel went in different teams and we had to talk to other people. Also because there are members like Nick and Phil who make you feel welcome and are up for a chat.

Like I say I'm a shy person  and find it heard to talk to people I don't know but if I find out they like bikes you can stop me :D

at leats being able to talk bikes we all have 1 common passion so its a start but as mike and i have said some people are just too nervous and shy to start a conversation with a stranger ina pub. its weird as i can go prospecting for new customers and go in and talk to the potential customer without too much of a problem, guess thats just a case of having too

I don't think there's any real problems with the site at the moment.

I think it has become more based around the Exeter area than it used to be, not a bad thing, just the way I see it.

With at least 3 sites based in Devon & Cornwall, things are bound to slow down compared to how it was when there was just this site.

I look at all 3 sites for rideouts and if there's one that suits me I'll join in. Did a great one on Sunday from Exeter to Minehead, Lynmouth etc.

I joined this site just about when it started so will always come here to see what's happening in the local biking scene, or if I need bike related advice.

Well I love this site. As soon as I got the interweb I signed up. :D I think it's good that there is things on here that isn't just about bikes because it helps with the whole community thing. Sure there are people who are only interested in the bike side and that's fair enough but if you want to get to know more people then SWB is ace. I haven't even bothered looking at other local sites.

The topic is called REASONS WHY THIS SITE IS FALLING TO DEATH!!

Is it? :?

There maybe a few members that don't come on so much or anymore but there are newbies joining all the time 8)

It's our site and it's as good as we make it and like I said if you don't think there's enough interesting or bike stuff on here, then post some.

I don't think being shy is much of an excuse to be honest.

I'm shy as hell, yet my first meet was when I was 16 at a go karting meet. I didn't know anybody, I could have been violated and raped! But I wasn't! :D

The only reason this site could have got clicky is because it is at least 3 years old. There are so many new faces, it is hard to keep track of who they are, you might even think they are strangers. I think if I went to a meet now, i'd know nobody.

However i'll be taking my ass down to Llandow next Friday to catch up with a few peeps and cum in my pants at the sound of highly revving four strokes.

You might want to avoid TV shops when moto gp or formula 1 is on. Or wear ear plugs. Just a thought really.

Too me this site has no problems...........
Everyone one on here i have met i class as a friend :!:
I know i don't go to many pub meets now as i am going back and forth scotland and when i am home i like to spend time with my family.
I really enjoy meeting up for rideouts and the ood trackday too
I know i chat to the usual crowd, but i just lose track of time and truley forget to welcome the new members

So lets keep this site friendly and keep Blimey away from the drink
