Thanks to you all for such a brilliant day. I have written a post in the Hello Section but am not used to the workings of this website so hope it gets there!
Thanks also for the help with the wing-mirror. I quite enjoyed looking at the hedges on my right, though. Plumbers' tape and thread were applied on return and may do the trick, if not I'll get a new yoke.

If you mean get a new top fork yoke then no no no

! Use a Helicoil insert (or equivilant) in said yoke, any local engineering shop can sort that for you. Just make sure to take both 'yoke' and mirror arm to them first, in case a new thread needs to be cut. The end result'll be stronger than the original
