You're very welcome Laura, girlies on bikes are growing in numbers - maybe we might get some decent gear made for us now!!!
If you need some clothing etc I can recommend Girlsbike2 in Poole, they only sell ladies bike stuff (Spidi, Alpinestars, etc), are staffed by girls so no blokes trying to sell you mens badly fitting gear! And they'll even make you a cuppa while you try on stuff too

Peronally laura, I believe it is safer if you rode your own bike rather than a pillion because:

-even though your other half may be a good ride, he is still in control that may mean if he leans a bit too much or goes too fast it is a burden on both of you.

-women seem to be more sensible riders/drivers than men and once you get used to riding a bike i am sure you will feel more confident because you are in control. Women like being in total control too from my experience.

I have only been a pillion once in my life! That was in India when i was 6 and one of my relations had a new bike at the time. I was six and sitting on the pillion seat with a cousin doing going quite fast, I remember i was quite scared!
