I tried my helmet on in fowlers get the right size, although got it on american ebay i can not see a single difference and the fit is exactly the same. Having said that i am aware asian lids are tighter at the front; had a shoei xr-1000 for my ninja which came from hong kong. Had to go back as it was so tight on the forehead and my ears...

Personally I consider my helmet to be the single most important bit of kit I wear, so I prefer to actually try the helmet on and make sure I'm happy with the fit before actually buying it. Pedantic I know, but that's my choice.

problem is this line is used alot of the time to justify a £500 lid. when in reality the only reason they are buying it is because its the most expensive and we like the paint job. buy the lid that fits you...even the cheaper lids do the job well if you get something well fitted.

I seem to remember an article a while back that suggested some helmet shells were actually TOO strong, typically the high-end carbon-kevlar composite ones (like I wear ...... ), and although the shock absorbent lining inside cushioned the brain impact to an extent, it allowed the brain to "rattle" inside the helmet, and because the lining had already deformed in the initial impact it didn't do its job as well in the subsequent shakes. Also, it allowed excess shock to be passed through to the upper torso - the base of the cranium and neck area.

As with cars, you actually want them to absorb as much of the impact as possible ...... the ones that look most damaged after an impact have often done their job better than the ones that look like they have sustained relatively little damage

Like everyone else had said most important thing is the fit and comfort, as for size and head shape etc I've got an AGV Stealth & a Arai RX 7 Corsair Edwards rep both seem to fit perfectly well but would have to say the Arai is a little noisier(can't spell for shit) than the AGV but sooo comfy.

But try these people http://www.gearchangeonline.com they where really good and I got my arai from them.

No worries deej, I ordered mine and it turned up next day can't fault the service, ended up using them as I tried to buy off a place in States as recommended by Ride and it turned out to be a right pain in the arse.

Also popped in to HG a couple of weeks ago and they couldn't have cared less....

well it finally arrived, turns out they forgot to post it

one of the brow vents was wrong though so i popped down bridge to get a fogcity and see if they did spares, and something odd is happening there, they were very helpful, the girl who served me was friendly and possibly the prettiest girl i've ever met, the fogcity was only £1 more than online, and they gave me 2 brow vents for free.

all in all i came away very happy, so maybe they're trying to do something about their reputation for not exactly being the greatest bike shop in the world
