I've no prejudice against sportsbikes.

Just noting that a number of apparent sportsbike riders took umbridge at my initial comment. Look at some the replies

"Is there a hint of jelousy there?"
"nowt wrong with a blast mate!!!!!......... "
"its a bikers forum!!!! and if u dont like what todays bikers are up too, then dont be part of it....."
"...there's quite a few of us on here that would love the opportunity to show you just how immature and stupid we can be..."

None of these relate to the point that I was making that these sportsbikes were being ridden very badly (as in unsafe to other road users) - IDGAS what people choose to do on the open road - and then sit in a line of traffic and get filtered past?

Who is the one being trolling and antagonistic? Certainly not just me.

I've spent too much time riding bikes and not enough reading books to know what this means!

Enjoy your day m8y!

The problem is that if you ride like close to other road users and really think like that - you are simply relying on them to watch out for your own mistakes.

That is selfish and stupid as not everyone is a skilled, able, competent or even observent road user and it is you that needs to be aware of them.

There are people who ride/drive like complete to55ers no matter what style of bike/car they own.

I ride like a comple twat sometimes, call me immature, but defo don't call me stupid, i know what the risks are and i am willing to take them.
If i didn't have a sportsbike and had something alse i'd still sometimes ride like a twat.

I try to filter as often as i can, but it took me time to build up confidence so when i see peeps sat behind traffic i don't pass judgement.

Being immature is great! who wants to be an old fart with a pipe and slippers!!

There are. But do you think this is a good thing?
Cheggers wrote:I ride like a comple [pregnant goldfish] sometimes, call me immature, but defo don't call me stupid, i know what the risks are and i am willing to take them.
I really don't care if you take risks - it is the taking risks with others that bothers me.

You said not to call you stupid - but you really need to have this spelt out?

The point was these morons came past at speed giving no room for error - the danger was to me from their stupid behaviour. Then sat in a line of traffic which I filtered through. If you are going to ride like a idiot have the decency to keep it up until you are splattered into the side of a Volvo and not behave like a wrist-job and sit in a line of cars less than half a mile further on.

Just caught up with this thread and it seems to be me that most people have taken offence to what was a fairly in-offensive original post.

FJS was relating his recent experiences with a group of sportsbike riders. He wasn't critical of all sports bike riders, just the ones who buzzed past him, and commenting on the danger it posed to himself.

What's the problem with highlighting dangerous riding ?
If it makes one person stop and think about how they ride then it can only be a good thing.

I think the main problem is the wording that is used, for example the use of the word 'you' in the original post has very personal connotations that have probably contributed to the feelings of victimisation.

It really isn't even 'dangerious' riding that particularly bothers me, as I've said people should feel free to ride how they like as long as it does not affect others. I do have an opinion about excessive risk taking generally (but this was not it)

The irony (that seems lost on many here) was these 'hard men' were so willing to line up as soon as they met traffic.

Mind you it could be that they have no idea that passing close to other vehicles as speed is risky to them.... In which case they really do need help.

I obviously have an opinion about everything you read here. You can't read an opinion on something that I don't write about.
LeroyRX wrote:Ive just logged on and all ive read from you is winging posts!!!
The only thing I've read from you is a whinging post. What is a 'winging' post? Something to do with aeroplanes?
LeroyRX wrote:Get a life , stop winging , people will ride how THEY want to ride not how YOU want them to ride!!!
Do you already have a life? Does that include telling people how to post on forums - or can they post how THEY want and not how YOU want them to post?
LeroyRX wrote:You joined a bike forum , in bike forums your meant to enjoy talking to fellow bikers ...... no-one is enjoying talking to you as all you do is slag bikers off!!
'Fellow bikers' don't treat others as objects to 'buzz' on the road. The morons that do that are not any form of 'bikers' I want anything to do with.
