Very impressive for your first trackday bud 👍 crashed out in the back of my van at Cadwell watching 😁 you will love Cadwell, just look out for the hairpin at the end of Hall bends very similar but off camber Do not trail brake into here, also Charlie's 1 and 2 take some learning it's a little bit blind, for the record I dont know anyone who hasn't crashed at Pembreys hairpin, I high-sided, saved it ended up going over the grass on the Right and rejoining at the start of the long left hander, got my arse chewed for that one

Hi Julian,

Thanks very much for the kind words, ha ha that's best place to watch some biking vids eh! Yes I need to watch some Cadwell ones now and hopefully I will pick up a bit more on the lines and braking points. Ye I bet you weren't the favourite for doing that but got to be better than crashing off the track and having to stop the session! Have fun at Cadwell I will hopefully get some more footage when i'm there in 2 weeks time and see what ya think.

Cheers

Interesting vid, like the format, better than endless "riders eye" laps :-bd

Damp day, braking fair almost looks like you were still breaking it the apex and no body movement.

On that first corner can stay a lot wider on turning in also to get you a decent run on the way out.
Looks like you enjoyed yourself still though.

Just need to move around more as then dont need to push the bike over to the edge of the tyre as far.

Your hate my vids then Moose  most of my channel is a storage area for every lap of every session.

I like Dans vlog stile starting to do a few of these to try and make it a little more interesting.

"Hate" is a strong word. Certainly not one I'd use in this instance ....... I'd just watch a lap or so and move on

As you point out though, there are two different purposes to the videos - one is a record of the experience, emotions, etc of the day whilst the other is a reference file of the day so that future days at the same location can be benchmarked against it. Each has their place, but the latter is more personal whereas the former is more for others :-bd

Yes Menzies had messaged me spotting the braking when I came off, few others I've spoke to said the same since, thought I had let off but think maybe panicked slightly coming into the corner and was still on them when I shouldn't have been. Learn from mistakes eh! Don't know if you watched further into the video but was moving around a little more on the bike in the last session, still need a lot of work on everything but I was happy enough for my first time out.

Glad people like the format I wasn't really sure the best way to do it but thought some explanation in between would make it more enjoyable. Will try to keep it up as much as I can. Plus it gives me something to look back at in a few years time to see how I improve :-bd

On a dry warm day at pembrey you can brake right to the apex. Because when the knee goes down that's my release the brake marker on that corner. But would not try it with any moisture about or on non sticky rubber.

It's just a learning curve bud. Once you find your rhythm it's great and flowing. Menzies is a good rider and has come on strong in the past few years.

You could do with watching your lines a bit more also.
Your tipping in point seems a little early from what I have seen as your not squaring the exit off.

Have you have watched some other videos of pembrey and compared them to yours?

If not wouldn't be a bad choice of things.
Could recommend you some known riders videos if wanted.

Hey,

Ye I did look at quite a few video's including Menzies when I got back and was surprised just how in the middle of the track/wrong line I was taking into the 2 tighter hairpin ones, turn 1 and turn 6/7 I think. The bigger longer sweeping corners I found naturally easier to stick to.

Feel free to send me a message or put some links up on here of any watch recommendations. Shame i'm not going back to Pembrey again for my next one as I think I could really improve going around the same track again. Need to study lots of Cadwell footage now instead =))

All advise taken onboard I need as much practice as I can get I think!

Cheers

These 3 are from a rider who won the no limits endurance championship a couple of years back. Chasing gee46 and myself.
Then showing us how to do it when he drops the hammer.

He is riding a panagale in the video but laps same time on his super twin around pembrey!!

Sometimes it's easier to watch from someone else where you go wrong where watching from your own camera can be awkward at times.

That was an interesting watch for me Ian.
I remember talking to him last time were were there at Pembrey last year and he really helped me with a decent line around the back hairpin a was going to wide and then cutting back to get on the gas early for the straight. the better line is crack it over and turn in earlier and lift the knee so not to hit the kerb on the inside.

I think I was at about the 1.09 / 1.10 a lap mark (Pembrey old layout) on a Triumph 765 so watching the first vids with him doing around the 1.15 mark was thinking nothing special but then also realised it was the new layout format.

Then looked at the last video and watched the 1.06 lap on the old layout and oooooooo that's how you do it

He can shift B-)

They claim the new layout was 8 seconds a lap slower.
Remember this is still track day pace. In race pace is even quicker.
When pushing really hard through the kink you can feel the back end step just as you hit the depression.
But its handy having people who are faster to drag you round and help out.
