Re: Dirty ride ???
I'm not sure what the byways are like down Devon way, but something to be aware of is additional undergrowth that can hide nasties...
We went on a ride with Wilts TRF on Saturday and did some great trails, some of which I hadn't ridden for years. After half an hour or so we were travelling in steady rain along a rather slippery chalky trail when I had a minor moment and steered right to correct, into the long-ish grass and a hidden rut grabbed my front wheel - Boom! Face-plant that winded me and made my ribs ache a bit. I enjoyed the rest of the day's ride without further mishap, and only at bedtime when finding that lying down was agony did I realise that I'd cracked a rib
Take it easy and try to stay out of the green stuff y'hear?

Ah yes the joys of falling off, done it many a time and for the next half hr you ask yourself why you put yourself through it lol. Sorry to hear about the rib, sounds like you got away with it other than that!Scotty wrote: ↑Jun 30th, '20, 11:43 I'm not sure what the byways are like down Devon way, but something to be aware of is additional undergrowth that can hide nasties...

I might have to abandon the planned ride as much as I would like to join, was out with the scummy devils at the weekend and Si (billinom8s) and bike was not running well, think it needs some tlc as it's had a fair bit of use with not too much spanner-ing in the past year and a half. I will be lucky if I get chance to look at it before then the 12th though. Will keep you posted.

Re: Dirty ride ??? July 12th
Hi everyone ok just over a week to go
Please be Fuelled and ready to ride by 9.00
Please bring Scooby snacks and water just in case there’s nothing in the garage
Please bring tools relevant to your bike and spare tubes in case of a puncture
Please make sure your bike is in order and suitable for off road conditions break downs happen but not every other lane
Green laning can be dangerous so wear appropriate protection
I think we have a very mixed ability group so please be patient there will be a run leader and tec so hopefully no one gets left behind and every couple of lanes we will stop for everyone to catch up please be patient
I think that’s everything

Nice n easy rules to play by.
It's also pretty physical sport so don't have too many layers on like you would on a normal rideout.

Re: Dirty ride ??? July 12th
Hi guys. I’m suffering with a bit of back pain at the mo. It’s nothing serious but earlier this week the Doc referred me to get an appointment with a specialist at the hospital so I reckon I’d best not do anything to aggravate it at the moment. Road riding will be fine but I think green-laning would be asking for trouble so I’m reluctantly going to bail on tomorrow’s shenanigans. I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Enjoy!
Re: Dirty ride ??? July 12th
Sorry but i'm gonna have to bale out too, too many jobs to catch up on.
Have a great time
