Putting in the town waypoints for 9 Aug fun ride. All ok till I get to Ivybridge then after putting in the waypoints for the Southern part of the ride the satnav ignores them and takes the shortest route to the end point of the ride. Spent hours on this trying different settings including a reset to factory specs. No difference. HELP please.

Just follow the Bike in front.
That's all I'm doing.

That's great advice.
Unless you're the run leader....

Have to say I am kind of with Moose on this one as long as you get where you want to go and don’t end up trying to ride up a farm track with more grass then tarmac then think your all good
However to try and help answer your question it depends on the sat nav as they are all slightly differant. But you need to choose your way point carefully else they will not be serving a purpose. Also there is normally a choice on the route settings if you want the shortest, fastest most direct might want to play with these setting to see if this helps.

Garmin 595. I was putting waypoints in using "add location" which were ignored AFTER saving the trip. I have tried the different " route settings" to no avail. Following bike in front is a genius idea, of course if the drop off system has blown up ( like on Sunday) the TEC ends up on the way to bloody Plymouth.

Use Garmin Basecamp.
It's free and uses the maps that are in your Sat nav.
Plan the route in Basecamp then send it to your device as a track.
Then either tell your device to follow that track as a route or just show the track on the screen so you can at least see where you should be going,

Where's your sense of adventure Robert; It's more fun, and certainly beats speed traps on main roads.
Back in the room I can't even see my satnav in sunshine, and cannot hear the ruddy thing either.

Nope, went back via Simonsbath ,Dulverton ,Tiv then back to civilisation in East Devon. On way to Lynton wanted to go on that brill road from Tiv to Witheridge but the road was shut so got to With via Rackenford. Not going that way again, went through pot hole central on lanes.
