The Coalition of Motorcycling Organisations (COMO) has examined legislation and guidance for the new lockdown in England. If you are not required to self-isolate, the rules do permit riding alone or with one other individual. You are still subject to the social distancing rules and other measures.

The important point being that motorcycling per se can be classed as 'recreation'.

Recreation (per White Dalton (motorcycle solicitors)) does not need to be exercise. Motorcyling is certainly 'recreation'. Ergo the above interpretation.

It is also documented that this interpretation may well be over the head of plod-on-the-street.

If, repeat IF I decide to get a solo bike ride in before December 2nd, I'm printing off the relevant piece from Daltons' blurb, plus the bullet points from the the .gov website and carrying it with me.

You might have found a get out clause but is it the right thing to do?

Is riding your bike more important than the greater good?

Personally being in my own hazmat suit if I want to go out for a ride by myself I might consider it. But with the weather getting colder and wetter I am not going to be trying to dive out the door any time soon and certainly not looking at any group riding.
