Vehicles need resting from time to time, it's in manual.

If you are sorning then be aware you need special insurance to cover you for their. You normal policy will no longer cover you the moment you sort the bike

Could you quote your source please?
Requirement for "normal insurance" is just to have a valid MOT, road tax isn't a requirement as far as I'm aware.

I looked to sorn my bike through winter as I did not want to tax it when I was not riding it and my insurance company basically said big no.

Have you read your policy?
You can't even buy tax without first having valid insurance, which by definition means insurance is valid without tax.

Glad I'm not with Rob's insurance company. Two of my bikes are on sorn for long term fettling and remain on my insurance specifically for fire, theft and accidental damage at home cover which the insurance company (Eagle Star) is happy with.

Agree.
The insurance company is just trying in on, Robert; they'll wriggle out of anything if they can.
