Engine Management Light

Hey all.

I’ve got a Yamaha MT-09 2017 (66plate).

Today I used a paddock stand on the rear for the first time today to clean and do some chain maintenance on the bike. A few hours later I went to start the bike up and the Engine management light has come on. Asked on an mt09/tracer page on Facebook and was told it’s happened to others before while using a paddock stand.
Was advised to get a code reader to turn it off.

Just wondering if anyone else has any additional info on the situation and could help me out?

Thanks - Ollie

Will just riding it clear it?

I'm assuming that you started the bike and maybe ran it in gear with the rear up - if so you've likely upset the ABS.
Sometimes this sort of thing will clear after a few start/stop cycles.
If it doesn't eventually self clear it'll need a fault code reset, either by a code reader or a visit to a dealer.

Usually disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds sorts this out.

Yeah I did turn the bike on with the rear up.
I’ve done a few on off cycles and still on. Also tried riding with It a little to see if that helped but didn’t.
Someone did mention that the o2 sensor could let water In and that could be causing it.

Will try disconnecting the battery in the morning to see if that works.

Agree with both advice given above.
1. See if it clears when you ride it
2. If not disconnect battery
3. If that fails dealer I'm afraid.

Just ride it for a while, a few heat cycles should clear it.
