Salisbury Plain ride - Fri 7th for Sat 8th July 2023

Post by Kata »

Hi All,

Any interest in a ride out weekend up in Cotswolds and/or Salsbury plain area? There's a village hotel near my place near Chippenham and i've got a couple of routes. Might make an interesting change to Devon/Somerset roads.

Thinking of something like the Welsh weekend but no need to learn another language and with less sheep and no blody fords  Possibly in Sept or perhaps next year?

What do you think?

Yeah, if it doesn't clash with any holidays I've already got in mind. From what I remember the traffic and restricted speed limits might make the Cotswolds the lesser choice. More open flowing roads around Wiltshire 👍

Maybe. Currently don’t have my bike due to needing repairs and insurance company taking it away. Once I have got it back hoping to get some miles on it as really missing not having it in summer months

I could get a bit interested in this John. If it's not going to clash in any way with SWB's annual Wales Weekend in June then dial me in as a provisional for now :) .

Will look to do this May next year. Local hotel has 4 twin rooms about £55 a night, ish. Premier Inn nearby. Depending on numbers we have some spare rooms and camping space too. Can do curvy, sight seeing trip type up the Cotswolds, or more of a Welsh progress wide around Wiltshire or both really.

As I'll be a man of leisure next year should be up for somewhere different as long as it doesn't clash with Wales and IOM 👍👍

Right after speaking to some of the usual suspects. I'm thinking of Friday 12/Sat 13 May 2023.

By popular request, the route would be around Salisbury plain area.

So it would mean a leisurely ride up for the Friday night, then a good early start riding on Saturday, going home afterwards same day, or having another night up here if you want.

Let me know if you can make it and if theres enough interest I'll have a chat to the Village hotel/pub and get an exemption from the local speed watch club.

I'm a definite for joining you John. Some great roads round Salisbury plain and Wiltshire that we rarely see on "normal" ride outs. Now let's get some more of the gang to commit...
