any projects on the go?

Post by billinom8s »

So as it's winter, nights are long, rain is falling and temps are low.

Many bikes vanish from the road and get worked on, what's happening to yours?

For me it's a brake strip on the dirt bike and that's pretty much it. Trackbike is happy and road bike is running well (that's just jinxed it).

What do you have planned for tinker time?

The RSV Mille is stripped to mend the damage from my foray in Portimao gravel trap. Also contemplating a set of AP Performance rear sets with rear master cylinder conversion and a gearing change of one tooth on front and two at the rear.

Tuono fighter just had a set of Oxford heated grips and power lead for heated jacket. Going to be my winter steed.

The Duke has been SORN'd and I'll be using the backup CB500 as my winter steed. Which meant it needed tyres that might actually have some kind of grip, so have just had a set of S22's delivered and had the wheels off, tyres changed (thanks to Jason at Kwik Fit Torquay) and I've spent 3 hours trying to get the back wheel in. All sorted now and just need to give it a run to make sure it's all good. Then swap the lead over for the heated jacket.

Go through both dirt bikes, deep clean and refresh.

May even chuck the boroscope into the 2t to see what the bore+piston are looking like.

Clean and organise the garage in prep for the zzr to get cleaned up and sold.
Also get the bmw moted ready for some road rides next year.

Put the TL on the bench to check valve clearances back in June or July, stripped it down but had an issue with a broken IAP sensor and a seized crank bolt cover, which meant ordering new parts, and although they arrived mid/late August, still haven't got as far as checking the valves even ...... %-(

MV needs a little bit of paint tidying up ....

Just given the DRZ a rear suspension 'strip & grease' ready for the coming wet season, and the jet washing that follows that.

Also shortened the chain so I can run lower gearing, then changed the chain to a riveted master 'cus I'm not keen on the spring clip ones anymore. My chain guides seem to wear the spring clip away and then it falls off, luckily the chain hasn't followed it yet but I've decided not to risk is anymore.

Today I'm going to finish the few odd jobs left and then fit my road wheels, then I might take it out for a back road blast.. that is if it warms up as this morning I was greeted with below freezing temps and thick frost all around.
