Got the urge to tour . Plymouth-Santander-West Coast France -North bit-Plymouth.
Never taken a bike abroad . What do I need? Any route ideas or general tips HELP over to you

I'm looking at going 1st week in September , but I can go anytime really. The mate I'm taking is pretty much the same.

What I can do is dig out some of the checklist I have used in the past and e-mail them to you later.

Last Sept me and Boyscout did a 3000mile trip
Plymouth
Arras
Besancon - after here the roads just get better and better
Grenoble - taking in lake Geneva and Lake Lucerne
Cannes - via Route Napoleon (a must road for all bikers) and the Gorge du Verdon (european grand canyon. Had a couple of days on the beach.
Gap - via Bolzano (we were going to WSB at Imola but preferred france to italy so we turned around and went back to Gap.
Cochem - had a couple of days here checking out the great roads and the awesome Nurburgring.

When we went the roads were empty and all the skiing villages were closed. It was fantastic and i would recommend Gap to anyone as its a beautiful place and is surrounded by loads of Cols which provide the most amazing riding you'll ever get.

My only tips would be to try and go in a group of about 4-5 bikes. Only go for 1-1.5 weeks (after 2 wks u get fed up with hotels). Stick to the french alps and take notice of other road users as they will always warn u of any Gendarmerie up ahead.
