The SV dudes swear by parrafin. I use muc off and wd40. I use Castrol Wax after but it flings a bit. That 'dry' stuff is meant to be good. Im hoping this forum will be a refuge form the 'get a scotoiler brigade....'

With a GPZ I used to own, I would remove the chain and soak it in parrafin
then wipe of the muck and let it dry off for a bit. I had one of those tins of chain lube that you heated up on the cooker to make it fluid, then popped the chain into the tin let it soak for a while before hanging it up to let the excess run off. Then refit.
What a pallaver

But you knew the stuff had got into the right places.
Now I just use a can of degreaser and a stiff brush to clean it and a can of chain wax (usually Castrol) to lube.
Plus I have to clean all the spattered crap off the rear wheel afterwards
It's all a trial of lurve init

Another Paraffin fan here, cleaned mine for the first time 2 days ago with a paint brush and the amount of crap that came off was astounding, let it be for a couple of hours cleaned off the excess and sprayed it with some chain spray that i found in a hardware store.

Sorry Dr Rich I'm witht he other guys, get a scotoiler!!
I also use parafin (perhaps because my house runs on heating oil and I've got tons of the stuff just sitting there running my Aga!! Cleans it up nice (use a tooth brush) but it does make a mess of the garage floor!

Surely the reason for fitting a Scotoiler is so you don't have to use any other wax/lube
Had someone get over 60k out of the chain on an SV:D

our friend Rictus. Not bloody bad I say!
