POLL: DO I OR DONT I

Post by speedy(delboy) »

I am still in the process of getting my fairing stripped ready to have her resprayed, by the Babylon guys, (will get there one day soon i hope).

But I was working in the garage last and I thought I would give something a try.

So Do I or Dont I do the whole thing :?: :?:

(This section I did will be hidden by the fairing anyways)

Also did this, although it still needs the last polishing mop - doh

Yea, I think it would. The bike bit I did there is not anodised but alot of the frame is, so would go through a fair few mops

BUT

Would it be worth it, Place your Votes Now

you won't get the anodising off with polishing mops, its too hard. You can use 3m abrasive wheels though (look like large round scouring pads mounted on an arbour), followed by progressively finer wet and dry paper and then your mops. I did this with my slabby frame, took forever!!
alternatively if you are wiling to strip the bike to do the job, you can de-anodise in a bath full of caustic soda (sold as drain cleaners in diy stores).

either way the frame would look great fully polished

Woudl be worth it, I am sure the bit you have tested is exposed frame (on mine) anyway isn't it so its too late to turn back ;)

Definately I love polished frames. I'd do mine if it wasnt powdercoated black. I am going to do my wheels, was thinking of making a start on them today.

Looks good, esp. that top yoke too!

Do it...I think it would look really good.

But with all this polishing and going for the shiney look, I feel you have deep issues burning inside you. You may deny it, but deep inside you want a cruiser and you know it, the darkside is calling....

Search your feelings, you know this to be true.

It's a ball ache if you ride over winter but on the plus side, if you leave it long enough it goes back to a matt finish all by itself!
