RIP R6

Post by Cheggers »

Well, replaced the forks last night (took an hour).
That was the only good part of my night.
With the front end stripped, a few things became apparent:

1. The front wheel is fooked

2. The triples and yokes are fooked

3. The frame is cracked and you can see the lower head stock bearing through the crack

The first two are easy to replace, but the frame is screwed. Thank christ i've got fully comp insurance (oh, no i've only got TPFT  )

So, i'm writing the bike off, taking the shiny bits off (just got new rearsets, d'oh!!) and then selling the rest to a breaker.
Hopefully i'll have enough saved by february for either a new R6 or GSXR 750.

Yeah, that'd be cool, if i can get a cheapish frame i should be able to swap it with mine (even tho i am a pinky sonar bender!!!)

Depending on whether i can get a frame will depend on if i'm selling my trick bits, but i'll put them in the 'for sale' section.

I took loads of photos ready to do a 'How to.... change forks'. looks like i may be doing a 'how to swap a frame'

If i cant get a frame, i think it'll definatly be a 2006 R6. I'm just gonna have to miss riding for a few months and get used to having two wheels too many :( :(
