Why on some threads there isn't an option to edit your posts anymore?

I may be stupid but why on some threads and not others.

Take the "introduce yourself" thread i made a slight cock up and didn't put the word "you" at the end of the sentence. But i can't go back in and sort it. Why would it benefit admin only getting the rights to this thread.
