CBR900 Seized Rear brake pin

Post by Garvey2003 »

Hi guys,

Im in a little bit of trouble. My rear brake pin that holds the pads in place is just not moving. does any one have a good idea what I will need to do.

In failing no help its looks like I am going to have to find another caliper to buy and replace the whole unit.

if any one is in the swindon area too and have the skills to remove that too would be spot on.

cheers

Get a clean rag between the pin and the disc/pads and give it some WD40 abuse and maybe a little smack with a hammer to loosen it up.

have you taken the cap off yet or is that the bit your struggling with?
i had exactly the same trouble with my blade, had to drill the cap off then undo the allen key pin, and didnt bother putting the cap back on. if its the allen pin , then just let some wd40 or something like it, to soak in over night, then have another go.

I have unscrewed what i could call a cap. its about 1/2cm and screws in. thats out no worrries. but It doesnt look like an allen key top inside. just a hole with threads.

Im going to give it another shot tomorrow night after work

inside that "hole with threads" there should be an socket headed pin, the allen key goes in the socket and it unscrews the pin, just about 10mm, then the pin should just pull out.

If it wont move easily, try it with some WD40 or similar overnight, don't get it on your disk.

Damn how stupid am I. Undone the a little cap and put in a 10mm allen key and it came out.

Job done. I just got a funny squick from the back wheel now to resolve. Think it may be the bearing kaput!
