Um so you decided an R1 or gixxer thou was the answer??!!! Sports tourers within your scope = thundercat, CBR600F, honda Dullsville and thats pretty much it.Stinky wrote:Well aprently the GSXR is a good sports tourer. Yes I want it to look cool though but more the touring.

Tourer.. ZZR1200 or perhaps Honda CBR1100XX.. ..
Depends on your build, but I found the GSXR600K4 very comfortable to ride for a while non-stop, on twisties and motorway, I'd happily do a few miles on it, a guy even went around the world on a YZF-R1, saw that on Men and Motors.
At the end of the day, you have to do whatever ever it is to justify your needs.. forget about ever single post on here, all of them, and go and do what you want, do whats best for you.

Its true that a guy has gone round the world on the R1 98 model. It is also true it is heavily modified and has a bigger top box than a rascal mini van

lol. I have a few mags, and one says R1s are good because most of their power is at the top end of the revs so you only get accelaration when you want it and theres no surprises so I thought that would be good for me. And another mag says the GSXR1000 is a good sports tourer. Oh theres so many choices of bikes!

Mate, you try accelerating in 1st gear from a standstill on an R1, and then comment! They do around 75 mph in first gear!Stinky wrote:lol. stinky, you need to concentrate on your PT... not fantasising about sports bikes! failing a 2nd PJFT won't look good on your joining papers at CTCRM! Anyhow, with 30 weeks training ahead of you, touring on a bike during leave and living out of a bergan or worse still a pannier will be the last thing you want to do duering precious time off! Give it time lad, its on your side. Best of luck for 2nd attempt and PRC.

Mate I appreciate that, but people who know that know that - but people who don't know that.. dont? Y'know?ZXR400Lee wrote:Thats pointless though.. no one new to a bike is going to max. first gear.. idiotic thinking.. just ride it properly as it was designed, first gear is only there for pulling away, then you change into second as soon as you can.
