again thanks guys, like zimbo said , thats what ive done. baught a loud alarm. runs off its own battery. all u do in replace the battery every now and then. just enoug lock and chains. just need somethign to wake me up if the bike moved. so i can wake up go downstairs and chin the bastardsss.

Had 2 cheap alarms. There're ok untill the thing doesn't disalarm. Better off without.
Datatools are just [Censored] anoying because if left they alarm themselves. So to do anything to it you have to put it into maintainance mode so the [Censored] thing bleeps at you all the time. They are also very sensitive, even on low setting, so a gust of wind will set it off.
METAs will only imobalise themselves if left. They only alarm as well when you press the botton.
With most modern bikes you can buy the connection wires for Datatools and METAs so they litraly just plug in to the bikes loom.
I agree totally with Mike. Datatools drive you to distraction.
cheap immobilisers are a no go - the laserline I had on my SRAD failed on a couple of occasions and left me well and truly shafted. Better off without.
My bike a [bar steward] to insure without a Cat 1 alarm/immob so its got to be Meta alll the way.

Here's another idea. This is the Oxford Boss Alarm. It's a disc lock with an alram but it's big enough to put on a chain cos it's the 'D' lock type. Ive got the standerd Boss and get on well with it. Thinking of getting one of these as well.

I got £150 off insurance as I had an alarm fitted.
This time next year i'll have paid for it's self.
It's a Triumph spec alarm - a re-badged Datatool. It doesn't beep or make any noise untill the bike is moved. Then it makes a serious racket. It's the S4. The alram on my first America was the S3 and on maintainance mode and didn't beep either.
And they both auto armed....that's why they make insurance cheaper.....because there's no way the bike can be left somewhere and not be secured. But thats what I'm used to.
