You don't see that many around, only seen a few being sold at the dealers, not too many on fleabay. Allegedly pretty quick, but the ones i have seen, appear much the same price of any other bikes ?
Whats the deal with them ? What do they handle like ? why isn't there more around ?

A mate of mine has got one, 98 or 99 model I think, he bought it a few years ago at a reasonable price & hasn't stopped tinkering with it! But I think that's mainly down to the fact that he likes tinkering with his bike than there's problems with it.
The main problem he's had was that guy who had it before him had put a set of cans on (legal ones with removeable baffles) & probably didn't get it set up as when he put the origionals on the bike ran fine, but he liked the sound of the others so he spent a while at GT m/c's getting it set up properly. He reckons it's a big improvement now, much smoother.
He put a set of wavey disks on & had loads of problems with them,like they wouldn't work in the wet
It was recalled by Suzuki at the end of last year for an oil pipe mod.
Apparently they've got quite a snatchy clutch, especially when cold, so he's just moded the clutch with a factory modification kit which has made the clutch a lot more usable, regardless of the temp.

After reading this you probably think there's a few problems with them, but apart from the well known rear sub frame problems & the recall for the oil pipe mod I don't think they're a bad bike. It's got some pretty good suspension on it from what I can see (USD forks!) & he doesn't complain about the handling.

Chap I know has one and absolutely loves it to bits - not the lightest, and not quite supersports levels of chuckability, but an awesome grunty motor that'll gain back on the straights what you have lost in the corner

Excellent for carrying passengers at warp factor 9, but you pay for it at fuel stops and in tyres brakes are reputed to be poor for a bike of that performance due to the sheer bulk they are having to stop.

Engines are strong - so strong they are routinely put into kit cars (which is why they have become somewhat scarce on the secondhand market), engines now very expensive, and plenty of good secondhand chassis / cycle parts for sale

I love my HAYABUSA . It's the easiest , laziest bike to ride.
Handles okay given size and does everything (and more) than I could ever want. Early ones had 'teething probs' but later ones are okay I believe.

I have replaced subframe , though it had been fine on the bike up until 2 weeks ago( when I replaced it) - it's a'99 model, which means its a full power one .
Had cam chain mod done on reacall before I had him.

Doesn't eat tyres or chains ....and does mpg similar to most bikes. I have to admit though , it appears I need some cush rubbers as they were an advisory on MOT 3-4 wweks ago.

I have after market cans and yes I do believe they have a tendancy to make the running 'rougher'.
As with all bikes you can pick it up and ride it as it is ...or you can spend a fortune 'improving' what suzuki have already spent millions on developing'

Brakes are ok, though I have just upgraded my master cylinder and lever to brembo.

Isn't there a new one coming out? or is it out already?

I like them, think they're an iconic bike, will agree that not all the looks are to die for, but I like them for what I think they stand for.

i will have one one day for a toy. ive always liked big heavy bikes for some reason, im fairly short but i seem to get on with them better, the fastest ive ever ridden was on my tl1000r, supposed to be shit handling and lumpy but it suited me down to the ground,i was much faster on that than on my r6 etc
