i had a letter from allan the organiser just though id pass it on

( A BIKERS CONVENTION.)

19/8/2007 Beaulieu 10 am to 5pm.
Discounted admission for the Daisy appeal £10.00
£5.00 of the admission costs to go to the Daisy appeal.

The new event will be the Daisy Bike day, a bikers convention as the Old Daisy run that took place up to three years ago was impractical to resurrect although the team tried hard and had support from the local councils and police the numbers were to vast and modern legislation was just to much.

We asked a few venues if the could help and Beaulieu have offered us their full support. We can have FULL use of their facilities park our bikes inside the museum grounds,
( this saves a lot of walking in leathers ). Cars can still use the ordinary car parks. Beaulieu are providing, security, their facilities including museum, Palace House, all of their exhibits, the full grounds, help with publicity, and a massive discount on the overall admission price. This has enabled us to hold this event and we should still make a large charity donation.

We hope that groups will ride together from clubs and dealerships to have fun but avoid the traffic problems caused by thousands of bikes arriving together.

We are planning trade stands, concourse contests the Beaulieu go carts will be running food stalls are on site, we can network other groups meet old friends chill out and enjoy the facilities. ( Trade stands 12X15Ft can be had for a minimum donation of £50.00 Traders, clubs, clothing suppliers and other bike related organisations can have a stand or block of stands )

We hope to have some celebrities there. Radio Solent will be there. We anticipate Southern TV attending.

The money raised will go to THE DAISY APPEAL WESSEX CANCER TRUST and is urgently required. The gamma camera used in the new treatment used when I had my bone marrow transplant after chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukaemia was old and over worked. The new one is now being installed but we still need to find some of the funds for it. WESSEX CANCER TRUST have in this years Daisy Appeal drastically improved the Isle of Wight Chemotherapy facility to save people having to cross from the island to have Chemo and then travel back when they feel pretty awful. They have provided a respite holiday home in Weymouth for cancer sufferers to take a short break between treatments just to get away from their worries and relax with their families as much as they can all this and providing funding for the Gamma Camera.

We hope that you can come and help us have fun.

Allan.

please support this if you can

thanks dave j

sorry to say i was totally unimpressed by the support for this event,

it was a great day you missed and will never have the chance to go to again due to the lack of support.

i did my bit even having the lovely Naomi in one of the clubs im in T shirts.
may not be for long as no one else turned up even though its less than 20 miles from Bournemouth.

sorry im actually annoyed with the motorcycling fraternity for this.

This was on the day the BRA RUN (breast Cancel Charity) was on mate, and most peeps had already booked themselves onto that.

It had been in the ride out section for months, where as yours was only put up on the 6th august, so not much time for peeps who didn't go on the BRA RUN to sorts sitters etc etc out.

its not just motorcycling that has this problem, trust me.

We compete in dog agility and as a sport it is getting a lot more popular, its quite expensive when you get into it because you land up buying a caravan, then you relise the car isn't good enough to tow it so you get a new car and so on it goes.

this year our most local show has ended because so few people are willing to put the time in behind the scenes to make the show happen, the next most local is in a fortnights time, our club has been asked to help out which we agreed to do, but actually getting the membership off their arses to do something is a nightmare, and this is for something that should bring in a bit of funds for us to buy new equipment and so is a deffinite benefit to us

tonight is the first time I've seen this thread and I havn't seen it advertised anywhere else so knew nothing about it. :(

Was anyone else as ignorant as me... ?

I honestly thought that this was an event in France (Beaulieu)... :?

I knew there was no way I could attend, so didn't bother reading up for info...

Sorry...
