Hi all,
Has anybody here know about the california superbike school. My parents asked what i wanted for my birthday as so far a contribution to this is the best so far!
However is it worth the money? £320 for a day out at silverstone and instruction all day long on my bike. Insurance companies also recognise it as an advanced biker qualification.

Their are several ways at looking at it:
Comment 1.
Haven’t done the school but the average trackday at Silverstone is about £160. So instruction for another £160 I think is worth it. Especially as it would probably improve your riding more in one hit than several trackdays at £160 each.
Comment 2.
PB reviewed it last year and their different staff writers all had different views and therefore got different things from it. If you’re a fast learner and have a positive attitude then you’ll get more out of it.
Comment 3.
PB also said if you spend £320 on a performance product for your bike you get a set improvement but when you change your bike its lost. If you spend that money on yourself, you take it to every bike you ride.
Comment 4.
I’m quit analytical about my riding and look for improvements and enjoy getting quicker safely with in my limits. The improvements are small therefore if I’m going to get any quicker I now need some outside help.

Keith Code’s original school is probably the most highly recommended school for the top racers anywhere and the UK school teaches the same principles.

If your happy in your ability and just enjoy being out there then save the money and have 2 trackdays.

Its worth remembering that CSS is a cornering school and doesnt use the full circuits. i can highly recommend the ron haslam school for a newbie to track riding. you use their bikes,full gp circuit too, all you do is turn up ride and more importantly listen to the advice given. then when your a lot more confident i'd say take your own bike on track and do a CSS day,i intend to try one of there schools next year,hopefully abroad.

Thanks guys for the tips. I have bought Ron haslams book, "twist of the wrist" as apprantly it is a good book while learning.
I am not really interested in a track day as such but improving my techniques in riding.
The advanced Riding award with Rospa is more road awarness than actually control of the machine which is where i need improvement.
I feel that I only know the basics of riding and i want to ride more confidently on country roads.
Jimbo, what mag is that anyways, I'll pop off to my local tomorrow morning and see what is available.

Went on level one earlier this year - worth every penny.
It's the best performance mod you can buy for you or your bike. (Performance includes speed and safety, track or road)
At Silverstone you don't use the full circuit - you only use the Stowe circuit - a small track on the infield.

Hi, i bought Fast Bikes and agonst the pornography there was a DVD with superbike introduction. However, it wasn't too much more than the website offered but i am convinced anyways of going on the course. Hopefully, Keith code's book, "twist of the wrist" will help.
I spoke to a women on the phone and they said that they are teaching not track daying. "It is a controlled environment;the skills are transferable to the road." Silverstone is down the road from me and the last days are in october before the transfer to spain.

get the miles in while the roads are empty,
learn to be relaxed on the bike and enjoy what it is you are there to do
the more time on the bike u get, the better rider u will be - in theroy.

a twist of the wrist is the racers bible and very hard to understand for a newbie,watch the dvd instead. the main problem is its very americanised and track based but is all transferable to road riding. any further training is better than none
