OK,
I commited a boo boo
I let the battery die on the ninja through lack of use/long rides!!!!
I can nick a charger to give it a boost but when fella found out, apart from throwing me looks of thunder cos he kept hinting it needed taking out and I kept saying I would and didnt, he started mumbling about how the alarm might be a problem when battery gets hooked up again.. Will it be?
I hope not!
... anyone wana go for a sedate ride when its running again! lol

what kind of alarm is it?
shouldnt be a problem tho, most alarms have internal power supplies(battery) that will last for a certain period of time with no charging input.
once the battery is charged it should all be fine

Ewwwww.. duno what sort it is, just came with the bike!! hehe
but cheers for the reasurance!
I did think when he said it that it may of just been him reacting to me not having done what I said I would and letting his prrrrecious down!!!

unfortunatly he's missing riding it, gone are the days of him not wanting to have to do the daily comute to plymouth!!

Nah shouldn't do it to much harm. I was always letting the battery run flat on the R1 through the winter (it was the alarm of course that was draining it). Alarm was always fine once battery had been on the Optimate. Letting the battery go dead flat though can shorten the life of the battery itself I've found, special modern gel batteries, they seem to like being kept tip top. In the end I took my alarm off as it was just a pain in the backside and age / ncb etc. meant it didn't affect insurance cost.

It won't effect the alarm but if you keep letting it happen, or don't charge the battery for a long time, it will knacker the battery. My advice is that if you keep your bike in a garage with electricity buy an octimate.
http://www.accumate.co.uk/it010003.html f you don't have an electricity supply then just run the bike up every couple of weeks. That's what I do and I let it warm up till the fan kicks in. If you don't let it run long enough you'll use more power to start it than you'll put back in.
