For those who don't listen to Lantern FM, the police are having a crack down on the roads up ere in North devon... they are using unmarked cars (and not mentioned on the radio..unmarked bikes..I know cos my mate was nicked by one) They are looking for "dangerous and inconsiderate" driving, the "use of mobile phones" and "speeding".. I know the A361 to M5, and the A39 is being targeted, not sure where else...so watch your backs chaps!!!! Its going to be the entire month of march.. am I being suspicious that the timing coincides with the start of the biking season..??!!

I wish id known that before i went out on the A361/M5 today -There was bloody loads of the buggers!

So... if I'm meandering down the road all respectful of everything and such, no water pistol filled with petrol and so on - then some black do-dah with blue lights inside his grill [that everyone can buy in Halfords or Maplins] fires up behind me, I carry on like normal because I don't recognise this thing as an OFFICIAL POLICE CAR - I'm well within my rights not to pull over & stop...?

Could be any idiot behind ready to 1/2" my pride & joy, take my wallet for a fixed penelty or claim anything.

Am I right?

totally right,, I am not going to stop cos sum bloke in sum car with pretty flashing lights in the grill asks me to..not till i get to a public place and theres not many of them on the 361... apparenlty the bike has no police indication at all don't know where they put the lights... (lol..answers on a postcard!!)

On the bike, the lights are on the rear bwetween panniers and plate.
It is a horrible 51 plate BMW, R1100 S I think. In a dull grey colour.

Dark blue Vulva estate had someone on the hard shoulder at Cullompton this afternoon

Also saw an R1 with no front end and a Saab with an R1 sized dent in the side of it near Lydney rider was up and about and talking very animatedly to the police at the scene ....... looked like car had turned right accross the path of the bike

Funny that it's Always march that they step up the speeding campaign. the 1st of march last year was when i got my sp30 on the ashford dual carrigway. Think I will be staying off the road's as much as possible this march then. It's the only way i can garanteen I will not get done. Thank's for the heads up guy's.

Look out for an unmarked BMW M5 in the newton abbot / torbay area. I saw it bombing up the torquay/newton road.

I see them in that layby pretty much everyday throughout the year....Buggers!

Really. What time do you ride though there. I only see em in march and mid december. I try and avoid that road as much as possible though and i only really ride in the afternoon.

I actually meant to say i see them driving that road every day,i usually see em round lunchtime on a friday when theyre parked in the layby with the speed gun/camera.
Theres sometimes a patrol car parked on the chivenor roundbout where the campsite/caravan place is...i never excessively speed down that road,but i do like to flick it over the roundabout
