Newton Abott Bike show???

If anyone got there this weekend... did they feel the same as us?....there was something missing compared to previous years....there seemed to be a low turn out and it just didn't have the atmosphere it normaly as..i can't work it out that we get approx 10,000 plus turning up for the megaride, then we have a weekend without it bloody raining for a change and such a low turn out for a weekend event that's for bikers???
I can't see it being long that the event organisers decide that it aint worth it anymore and just don't bother trying...then it'll be down to the local coffee shed moaning that there aint nothing happening for bikers :?

Went on Saturday afternoon and was pretty disappointed. £14 to get in two-up felt a bit overpriced for what was there. Take out the millions of Tattoo Stands & that big jewellery one (not my sort of thing), and there really wasn't much there. The stunts were ok but nothing haven't seen before. Don't know if Sunday was any better didn't go back.

I do agree though it was a lovely day and was surprised to see so few there, and i don't think it was as good as last year.

i didn't go cos i was working all day. Gotta say tho, if its a nice day and from what i hear saturday/sunday were both nice days, i would much rather be out riding on the roads and playing in traffic than walking around a show in my leathers getting ripped off for over priced items.

To be honest when I have been to this in the past I've always been bitterly dissapointed and it's no way worth £7. I don't go now just because i know it'll be rubbish.

I hate stuff like that so would just never go anyway....bike shows or bike rallys are inevitabley pants.

mind you I wouldnt entertain doing something like the mega-ride either, which is even worse.

I went last year and took the missus and two grown up kids so had to pay £28 to get in and after an hour we had seen everything and were on our way home, it was totally crap so i'm not surprised not many turned up this year, people vote with their feet everytime and the organisers need to get there fingers out and sort some good quality stands and entertainment, not the crappy £25 a go bungee jump that was stood empty or as has been said before about 20 crap jewellery stands or the stalls selling blatant counterfeit leathers of horrendous quality. Last year the big local dealers were missing like GT and Bridge so if they arent going what does it tell you, they know its crap as well, i think the only dealer i saw last year was Speed and the guys there said it had been quiet. You can't just chuck a few bikes on display, bung in some overpriced burger vans and naff stalls and call it a bike show it doesnt work as is being proven by the attendances......

Just my thoughts :)

I went to this for the first time sunday & was also disappointed.
How can they call it a show,i didn`t see anything on show. :x Just a few trade stands & burger vans.
Come to think of it, there was one bike that was werth seeing.A streetfightered Triumph Rocket 3 :o Very nice.I wish i had taken a photo of that now. :| But i don`t think it was part of the "show"though.
Anyway, stayed just over an hour and nothing was happening so i buggered off along the coast road to West bay for a greasey burger & a cup of tea. :)

there weren't as many display bikes as last year, but the beer was cheap and there were a good bunch of people there - camping and three bands on the saturday night too so thought it was ok for 7 quid really, but i guess if you only went for an hour one afternoon you wouldnt really have got your moneys worth. bring your tents next year and have a few beers
dunno how the triumph managed to get a mention but the moto martin style fighter missed any comments? Usual billet v-twin monstrosities were there but a few nice subtle bikes hidden amongst them too, and Simon Millward's bike that he clocked up 220 000 kms on his millenium ride was on show as well 8)

 Triumph got mentioned because it was a nice bike + never saw a display.Where was it ?

Didn`t have a clue what was on as i never saw any advertising for the event apart from couple of lines in MCN.
Just thought i`d pop down for a ride. :)

the show bikes were all in the indoor hall bit, on the right of the marquee up the little ramp. reckon that there were about half as many there this year as last though. surprising seeing there was a £1000 prize for best in show. didnt see as many posters up about the place as last year though I dont think - sure there were more posters about the place last year.
The team no limits display riders - kids from the age of 6 upwards - were quite impressive as well - secretly hoped that one of them would bin it and make a proper show but credit to the little buggers they all managed to stay upright and miss each other!! :)
