Long Distance Touring on a Naked Bike?

Evenin' all,
I was wondering if anyone here has any experiences of touring the UK or Europe on a naked bike. I currently have an NC30, but am thinking of getting something a bit bigger so me and the mrs can ride up to the Scottish Islands, or around Europe or whatever. I'd love to get a Street Triple, but I don't want to get it if long distance touring will be too uncomfortable on it. However, i also don't want to get a bike that's great for the fortnight a year i go long distance, but then sucks for the rest of the time.
Any opinions?

Ow do...
ok, so I'm gonna get blasted for this I'm sure but I know of plenty of peeps who happily tour on a Hornet and STILL manage to have fun the rest of the year
Two up I've no idea, pack light???

I've covered Europe on vaious bikes, none of which have had a fairing - just depends what you want/expect really ...... if you want to travel at 90+mph everywhere, then yes it'll be uncomfortable, but if you travel at 60-90, then you shouldn't have much of a problem

I should have said, the mrs has her own bike (Pegaso), so we won't be two-up on whatever i get.

60-90 sounds about right, she's no speed freak and i'd like to be able to look at the views as i go

I assume getting a small flyscreen is a good idea?

Well said Sheila - these Power Rangers, they're just a bunch of big girls blouses, aren't they
They key with "naked" bikes is a riding position that pulls you forward slightly, so that wind pressure lifts you slightly rather than drags you back off the bike
It is surprising what difference a little headlight screen can make - like the duke Monsters

You will be fine riding the speed tripple touring solo, we have had a few down here and no problems with comfort... put a fly screen on it and you will deflect some of the wind weight from your head ;) I have ridden a Rocket III round europe and even now do 200 mile days no problem. So I would say you can tour on alost anything if you plan it correctly, and of course you are happy with the bike...
