not too bad for 4.5 hrs work, that included a stop for lunch and to fix an alarm system on an ER6 that popped by.

will be dropping the frame off this week for coating, will keep you up to date with the trials and tribulations of the prep and rebuild.

time for a brew chief ? :-bd

It was a stunt can, no cans or carpet fibers were hurt in this photo setup. Everything. You see in the photo was staged, there is actually a sparkler no the go and the grinder isn't even working!

Is this the second time that bike has been stripped to the frame? No video of how to build an R1 in 3.5 minutes this time?

I see the grinder has TOMY written on it...

When I get bored in the garage I normally just pick a couple of dried flies off the bike or brush the leaves back out the door. If I started stripping my bike I'd get bored with that aswell. Then I'd be too bored to put it back together again. Then I wouldn't be able to go out for a couple of weeks until I got some motivation to get someone round to help put my bike back together.

i sent the frame to First Choice Finishes' in Exeter. I got the swinging arm done there in the summer and had the wheels done there about 18 months ago.
Talking with the blokes there when i dropped the frame off they said they were confused as to why there were so few projects going on this winter. Apparently this time of year there are normally bike bits all over the unit, they have put it down to the summer going on and on and people riding later into the winter. I could of had the frasme back within a week but didn't need it so fast as i was on holiday.

To get the frame done they charged me £80. The finish was really good, i went for the satin instead of gloss.

Well today the project started and the fingers got dirty. Most of the next post will just be picks as i am knackered but will update it over the next couple of days.

ok, so while the frame was away i had time to clean some bits and do some servicing.

Firstly the rear shock got a bit of tlc

after

After that i changed the oil in the forks, then the fun began...

Engine in, head stock in, loom half in.

Next stage was the undertray and electrics. No major dramas so far, still waiting for the swinging arm bearings to arrive, that's why it's missing before you ask :D

Tomorrow i hope to get the front end back together and then pick up the bearings to get the rear end together.

More pics to follow.......
